Oakville Nissan Infiniti Messed up my wheel stud :(

I asked them to take the lock lug nuts off my car and replace them with standard lug nuts. The technician who is surprisingly bad at his job completely stripped one of the studs requiring me to drive back from woodbridge on 4 lugs to get them to fix it.

Nothing short of an apology either. I just bought a used infiniti and haven't even had an opportunity to service my car yet aside from this but apparently if they make mistakes with new customers they don't care whatsoever, the service manager and general manager specifically.

Pathetic service. Easiest job you could have and you messed it up, there's no way I'm bringing my car back here again. I get that mistakes happen but if you don't make it right with the customer after then you're as pathetic as the technician who cant even take a bolt off without breaking something.

Consider the possibility that some other person overtightened that wheel nut when the wheel was installed, and stripped the threads at that time. You weren't aware of the damage because the four undamaged nuts held the wheel on securely.

When wheel nuts are installed the best practice is to use a impact gun with torque stick, or tighten by hand with a torque wrench. I recently bought a set of tires at Discount Tire and watched the tech tighten the nuts. To my delight he used a torque stick and followed up by tightening each nut with a torque wrench, and rechecked each nut with the torque wrench.

Why did you have to drive back? So you brought it there to replace lug nuts, mechanic stripped one...the sent you on your way without saying anything?

This incident was a test! Why would you have the dealership to this kind job? Any tire store could have handled this minor task and might not even charge you. It is possible since you just bought this car the damage was done long ago by some and his impact gun...Gary
