Question about tire sizing - 35 series vs 40 series
To begin, I know stock sizing and running 19" Rays. I am running stock suspension (aka NOT lowered). However, I know a lot of people run the 35 series on their G's (F 245/35 R 255-275/35). Based upon forum advice, I moved my 245/40s from the rear to the front (I'm a cheap bastard) and put 255/35s on the rear. Now my car looks freakin weird because the fronts are taller than the rears. I am going to replace one axle but not sure which. At the current moment, I'm thinking of going 255/40 or 265/40. BECAUSE...
The 245/40s look like they fit the wheel well with minimal gap (but no rub) while the 255/35s have quite a bit of space between the tire edge and the well - like 2-2.5". Looks like its a baby wheel on the car. So my question...
For those of you running the 35 series: Is your G lowered? Because that's the only way I can see the 35 series looking like it fits. Am I missing something?
P.S. I have read most of the tire sizing threads of G35driver and My350z. And most of the pictures are no longer available so please don't flame my ***.
P.P.S. Changed photos to a clean car as I hate being shamed.

I've heard a lot of people run 275 in the rear. However, I'm also aware that the rim is not designed for that width (and load). I do spirited driving and plan on tracking the car soon, so I'm not really game for that. But I appreciate the input.
And it still doesn't address my primary concern which is that the 35 looks WAY TOO SMALL on a stock setup.

I just went through a very similar sitch (because Jersey made me buy new wheels), and yes, if you want the car to look normal you'll have to go with the stock rolling diameter. I had 265/35-18 on the rear and it looked so dumb (although acceleration was awesome). I moved to a 275/40-18 and never looked back (except when changing lanes ha!). Use a tire calculator to figure out which aspect ration you need to widen the tire a bit, but keep the same sidewall size. It's not necessarily as simple as talking about it on a forum, cuz even the difference of just 3% diameter can make it look dumb af.
Only way to make it look good with the small sidewall is to lower the car down to the wheel.

That was really helpful and practical in answering the first question (will 35 look dumb on stock --> yes).
The second question is now: Can I run a 255/265 40 19 on rears without rolling the fender?

If you aren't lowered yes. If you plan on lowering or using spacers, roll em.
You're right, the 35 series on the back looks just a wee bit strange looking at the profile of your coupe! Your Rays wheels using 245/40X19 front and rear would work or you could go a size larger maximum out back because of the rim width, staying with the 40 series!
