How To Increase Headroom in a 35/37

Hey All. I currently have an Acura TL and an 07-08 G35 or 07+ G37 is calling me name. I test drove a G35 sedan over the weekend and the rub is that my head quite literally rubs the roof. I'm 6'2" so it's not like I didn't fit but it annoyed me that I could feel the top of my hair brushing against the roof line from to time.

There's a mod for the older G35's which gives a little more headroom but I'm not sure if there is one for the new 35 or 37's. Any help would be greatly appreciated and I'd head to have prevent me from pulling the trigger on one of these beauties.

I've done seat lowering mods on MANY vehicles in the past by modifying the factory bracket. Pretty much every seat ever made can be lowered by at least 1 inch by cutting and re-drilling the factory bracket and the G is no exception.

If you want to see how much lower a seat can go then lower it to the lowest setting, get a flashlight, look under the seat and eyeball the gap between the lowest point (usually a motor or harness) and the floorpan.

Usually you can just bend and drill the existing bracket. My father-in-law is 6'8" and I've modified probably... ~35 vehicles for him over the last 20 years.

WOW!!! Just how tall is 6'2? I am 6'1 and have plenty of head room. You just have the seat all the way up and straight

You can also lower the seat ~3/4" but adjusting the factory 'bump stop' on the seat rail. Just get under the seat with a flashlight and move it up/down and you'll be able to see which one needs to be adjusted (I believe it was on the inboard side of the seat). I did this so my helmet would clear for autox/track days.

^^^Yep, this was a very popular mod early on in the days of this site. I probably did this back in 2005 and it was hugely beneficial. This and the clutch bump stop mod were two of the best bang for hour buck (or free) mods for the G.

Wow, what a blast from the past; I almost forget that I have the clutch bump stop mod! That was a LONG time ago. One of the forum members made and sold these and its worked for 125000 miles!
