Mine will idle at 1800-1900 rpm when it's cold but it only stays there for 15-30 seconds and gradually slows down to normal idle speed (confirmed via ODBII) after 1-2 minutes. I always try and let it "warm up" for a couple of minutes before driving off when the car has sat for hours (overnight, when leaving work, etc). Even if I get in a hurry and it's idling at 1000+ rpm, as soon as I barely move the gear selector, the ECU forces the idle down to 600-700. It won't allow you to go into gear if the RPMs are above a certain speed.
