VQ35 vs VR30? Which engine do you prefer?

Hey guys, figured we could talk about our VQ engines versus the VR engines and which power plant you prefer. Personally nothing beats the naturally aspirated feel for me. Plus I would hat doing maintenance on a twin turbo car. Curious to know if anyone else is on the same page as me.

Respectfully,

NA is very simple and less maintenance. If you want big power go turbo. Best of both worlds would be a VQ35HR or VQ37VHR with boost. The VR30 is really cool but I wouldn't spend all the time and money to swap one just to have less displacement. Now if your talking VR38 of course yes please but again you better have $$$$$$$$$$

I haven't looked into VR30 tuning but I suspect it's like the older maxima engines, shorter stroke = lower piston speed = higher rev potential.

VR30 is the same bore and stroke as the SR20 86x86. The VR38 is 95.5x88.4

VQ35HR is 95.5x81.4 and VQ37VHR is 95.5x86.

I would like to see pictures of the VR30 stock pistons and rods... I'm sure people will be tearing into them soon.

Wow I am REALLY surprised to see a smaller piston diameter instead of a shorter stroke, there must be something about the wider rod angle that they didn't like about the VQ series.

Very interesting that the VR is going with smaller pistons instead of the shorter stroke I will admit. Personally enthusiasts might have supported the platform more if it indeed had a shorter stroke. Personally I am starting to see why more gearheads are sticking with the older VQ engines instead of wanting to mess with the newer twins.
