5 Things I Wish I knew Before Buying a G35

Like the title suggests, here are five things that I wish I had known when purchasing my G35. More info is posted on my blog. https://importlife.blog/blog-2/As you all very well know the Infiniti G35 is by far my favorite car. Regardless here are five things about the Infiniti G35 that I wish I had known prior to buying one.

1.Crankshaft positioning sensors are not a big deal. If you talk to anyone about the G35 than you will hear one of two things. Either it burns oil, or that the crank positioning sensors are going to fail on you. I’ll address the oil burn later, but to start with, the crankshaft positioning sensors are no more of an issue on this platform than any other platform. In fact the Nissan 350z uses the same VQ35 engine and you never hear of it having crankshaft positioning problems.

2. The VQ35HR engine does not have any issues with oil consumption. Earlier models of the G35 were said to burn through oil at an astonishing rate, and this is often cited as one of the main weaknesses of the engine, however this appears to have been fixed and does not apply to the later model years.

3. No one will understand that the car is a rebadged Nissan Skyline. Like most car enthusiasts I love the Nissan Skyline. Unlike most car enthusiasts I actually own one. The G35 is a model of Nissan Skyline that was sold in North America as an Infiniti. Do not try explaining this to people because they will not understand anyway. The fact is that the G37 and Q50 are also called Nissan Skylines in Japan.

4. The parts from the 2009 Infiniti G37 are directly compatible. I wish I had known this sooner because it would definitely have saved me some headache when searching for parts.

5. Ever riced out Honda Civic and Ford Mustang will pull up next to you while you are driving and bounce off of their rev limiter trying to race you. In fact every ricer regardless of what they drive will pull up alongside you and feel the need to redline their engine for no apparent reason.

Thanks for reading and I hope you learned something useful from this. Import Life

Replace Honda Civic with Honda Accord and it sounds like my drive to work every morning.
