Red 6MT (Rev-Up) Coupe
It’s Been a Little While!

Hey everyone, I was pretty active here when I first bought my G35 back in February, but basically went behind the scenes right after because I mainly joined at first for tips/advice.

Pretty exciting day! (Getting shipped to me.)

I got the car in the night mid-February, and it was a little bit of a shock. Sitting in a car that I’ve been trying to look for, for almost a year. It took me so long because I wanted it with a clean title, under 100k miles, had to be a 6MT, and either an 05 or newer. So, finally being able to call this mine was a relief.

The next morning is when I found the flaws... mechanically/suspension wise, the car was perfect. It was the body that wasn’t. There was a tiny patch of rust under the driver rear wheel well, along with decaying clear coat around the whole car, especially the rear panel on the passenger side. The alloys were curbed and just looked bad, and the exhaust tip was also hanging a little loose. Plus, the driver side power window motor was not working. So, after changing the oil and having them pull the window closed, I took it in to get the exhaust fixed because that was bothering me. But, I decided to have them fix it after taking out the muffler because sooner or later I was going to do that too.

Fixing the exhaust along with getting a muffler delete.

After the muffler delete was done, it sounded perfect. I was surprised that it had a little more rasp than a muffler delete should, but that’s because of the other parts of the exhaust. I figured out that whoever had it last put on a Walker Mid-Pipe and Y-Pipe. I guess they’re a replacement brand, but the resonators are fairly smaller than the stock square-shaped ones, so that was probably why. Again, the sound was perfect.

So after all that was done, I did my daily driving, and soon after, my SES light came on for the first time, and I was already ashamed, thinking that this may happen more and more when I didn’t want it to. The code was ran, which was a P1084: bank 2 sensor getting bad readings. Simple fix, and I went ahead and just got the other 3 sensors since it’s a Rev-Up, along with NGK Iridium Spark Plugs, new serpentine belts, air filter, and put Redline MT-85 in for the transmission. After those were all done, car ran even better, which was great.

Soon after that, I went ahead and installed the Mishimoto Weighted Shift ****, because the shape of them makes shifting easier for me, along with how they’re weighted. It definitely made a difference in how shifts were.

Once quarantine took over, I had no other choice but to do some cool little mods to the car that were cosmetic, and would make a difference in the look. So, the first thing I did was made the wheels white. I masked the pads, tires, and fenders. They’ll run right off of the rotors after a few rounds of braking. It made the car pop out a lot more, and keep in mind that it’ll look even better soon because since I like the white, I’m going to get them sandblasted and legitimately painted next month, along with the rest of the car. So, it’ll have fresh body paint (I’m keeping it red,) and also flawless, better looking white wheels. Anyway, after that, I went ahead and bought tail lights off of a 2007 coupe. They fit perfectly, and didn’t even have a scratch. But before I tightened them in, I also installed the Diode Dynamics Tail as Turn mod, along with some LED reverse lights. To top it off, luckily, my “G35 S” plate holder came in the same day, and I liked how that looked. I got it because it is a sport, but they actually branded them “S” in the 07 Sedans and on, etc. I then plasti-dipped the badges, after removing the “G35” one. Once that was done, I coated my grille in gloss black. This made it look a lot more like a sport, because I just didn’t really like the black-chrome before. Spec-D clear side-markers were also on.

So yeah! That’s basically where I’ve came along so far with this car. Like I said, it’s going in for a complete red re-paint along with blasting and repainting the wheels white at the end of this month, which is exciting. Very soon, I’m going to get a Cold Air Intake.

Once that is all done, I’m going to take a look at some head units with Apple car play, because I do have the Roav SmartCharge F2 FM Transmitter, but for some reason there’s a lot more static using it in this car compared to other cars I’ve used it in like a Nissan Titan and an old Buick. It sounded perfect, no static in those cars. Getting a head unit may also make it sound a little better than it already does too. Then, I may look for a subwoofer, nothing huge, maybe a single 10” just for fun.

Next, I want to try to freshen up the front a little more with new head lights. I don’t know if I should get those Spec-D headlights everyone likes, or these replacement ones that are LED and have halos. And as far as lighting goes, I’m also taking a look at some interior LED’s.

Once those are taken care of, I definitely want to save up for some BC Coilovers. I’d love to put it on air suspension, but it’s just a lot of money and work too. As long as the BC’s ride as smooth or almost as smooth as stock does, that’s what I’ll want, because I’d like for the car to sit lower. I may space out the wheels a tiny bit as well.

Other than all of that, I don’t plan to do anything major! It’s still a daily car, and I think the small mods listed above are good enough for me, because anything else I do, I don’t want it being gone for weeks, or not being as reliable anymore. 😂 But yeah! That’s basically a catch up/timeline, hopefully I can become a little more active, those times will probably come once what was listed above is about to happen/installed.

You may see some weird things/sideways pictures because using the forum on the phone is difficult haha.

See you around!

The Tail As Turn Mod is a great compliment to the G35! Thank you for making us a part of your build!
