Whole sunroof flew off my car??
Whole sunroof flew off my car??
I was driving down the highway and did a lil moderate 5k rpm pull. Hit 75 mph all of a sudden I hear a loud pop from above my head. I turn around and notice my headliner flapping everywhere, so I’m like wtf is my sunroof open? I slide the cover back and try to close the sunroof, nothing happens. I try to click the open button for the sunroof and it starts to slide back, and it all clicked. My god damn sunroof just flew off. No idea if it even hit another car or what. Didn’t help that it started down pouring the instant this happened. Any body else have experience with this or heard of it? Never heard of anything like this before. And I have not touched anything with the sunroof since my ownership fyi.
Got a question for y’all that you guys may or may not be able to help with... will an 08 HR sedan glass fit my 05 revup coupe? My buddy is parting out his sedan and woul be nice if the glass was universal between the models but I’m guessing it’s not gonna work that way.
This has happened quite a few times, the OEM glue fails eventually and the sunroof blows off.
Order a new one and have a glass shop install it, their aftermarket sealant shouldn't fail.
Or just buy another OEM one, it has a frame around it that bolts to the track.

Old thread but never posted my solution
ended up getting a used sunroof off eBay for 165 shipped and installed it myself, took like 10 mins it’s just held in by 4 screws. Might have a glass shop redo the adhesive, however.
edit:sedans and coupes are different sizes so you need to order accordingly. Also seemed like coupes were much harder to find

Yeah I was absolutely shocked when I realized the roof flew away. Also the upper trim piece on my rear windshield is starting to peel off. Guess all the adhesives on my car are starting to give out. I need to figure out what sort of glue to use to secure it back in place. Everyday it Peels up a little more; if not fixed soon I’ll have to order a new piece when the one on my car flies off lol
