Why would you guys turn VDC off unless you want to break your tires loose? Do you guys feel more power with VDC off?

It does seem to have more pep to me. In addition, when it's on I even feel like it's harder to get a smooth start from a standstill. Overall, maybe a bit of extra power, but it's more about smoother operation for me.

ON 95% of the time especially now my tires are wearing out. i don't see the hassle in reaching for the switch when you need to let loose? and it doesn't interfere with normal driving either.

Yeh, I don't mind reaching for the switch frequently and the system backs off enough for me when turned off.

The day my wife has to drive the car, I'll be glad that the VDC default setting is ON.

And I can't help but wonder if the system is so intrusive, at least in part, to help increase tire life.

It's funny that this same discussion was taking place when ABS was first introduced in the early eighties. Of course, you can't turn ABS off with a flick of a switch, but drivers felt that they could modulate their brakes better than the computer. I've driven some pretty technical mountain roads and the VDC rarely interfered with my fun. Unless I'm doing some serious driving in a controlled environment, the VDC stays on.

I've gone back and forth. For the first year and a half I always had VDC on unless I wanted to get on it. Lately I've gotten in to the habbit of just shutting it off when I start the car. I do get sick of pushing that little button every time I start the car though....

I believe there was a post about this before. Mine is always on unless I am in a open parking lot while its raining, or if I am driving somewhat aggresively (always come on ever for a small churp) or launching.

on if on the streets
off if I'm in a empty parking lot!

it saved my car quite a few times
not yet used to it's power (my first RWD sports car)

might as well keep it on.. I dont see the point of it off on the streets
I'm not Takumi (refering to Initial D remark in first post lol)

I usually turn mine off on the streets. But once I touch the freeway, its on. Or if its raining, its on. VDC can be a lifesaver. I was driving in the rain and I drove through this turn at less than the posted limit and due to the fact that there was some mud on the road, my rear end was trying to go all over the place, VDC handled that nicely. I also managed to totally lose control of my car in a turn with VDC on... But that's another story... lol
