park ur car on the street?

I was just wondering wut u guys thought. i think im a little too **** about my car, i have a garage at home, and wont even like park it at a supermkt lot or in nyc or any crappy town. problem is, i might move out of my parents' house and into an apartment in jersey city, nj, a decent area but nonetheless. im just thinking id go insane leaving my car on the street 24/7. should i just chill and take my chances? or would u wait tilu could find a place with off street parking/ garage? just wanted to see some opinions out there. thanks.

I freak out everytime I find parking in the city. Not because of the miracle that just happened, but because of the potential for bumper scrapes. Just find corner spots and make sure you car stays dirty.

Without a doubt I'd recommend you find an apt that has a garage before moving. But I'm probably even more OCD about it than you.

Jersey City??? STAY HOME!!!! Dont bother throwing your money away on rent when your parents are letting you stay, just so you can move out. Save it up until you can start making mortgage payments on a house. Thats how you become RICH!

yea I wouldn't park my car on the street in Jersey City. It's not a bad area during the day but at night I'd be too worried someone would break into it.

You feel the same as I do. -- I don't even like parking on my own private driveway! -- always garaged.....(unless I can't.. )

If I were you tho, I'd wait and find a place with a garage > Out of sight, out of mind.

I moved to Jersey City about a year ago from Hunterdon Co. And, yeah, definitely find an apt w/ a garage, which my apt currently has. Or, pay the monthly for a parking deck. I wouldn't be caught parking my 2month old G on the streets. Although, I've driven by 2 Gs so far parked on the street daily.

Oh yeah, my roomate's Lexus SC300 was almost jacked but thankfully a neighbor saw the would-be jackers and called the cops. The car was parked no more than 20yards away from our apt. They busted the passenger door locks and the ignition.

I live by Journal Square if that means anything?? Good luck!
