My loaner car

The other day my car went to the shop for some minor warranty repairs. They gave me an 05 G35x. This was my first time driving a 5AT, and I was sure I would hate it. I couldn't believe it, I'm sure it was faster off the line than my car. Plus with the improvements that have been made, overall it was a very pleasant experience. Now I take back every bad thought I ever had about the sedan, and the 5AT.

Of course it was faster off the line than your MT coupe - you drove a G35x. AWD kills RWD off the line - unless the RWD car has got some big, sticky tires or a lot more power than the AWD car.

In this case you're dealing with the same power output and minimal power loss from the AT and the AWD drivetrain. Of course, at high speeds you' probably pull on the G35x fairly well.

the ATs are actually faster than the MTs. we are quicker off the line my friend. AT owners need respect.

I too had the exact same car last week for my loaner and I was blown away. I beat the hell out of it between Greenwood and Bloomington on SR44-37-45...the thing never slipped once. Didn't ever drop it in the snow setting either.

I want my wife to want one

And Sarcasmo, the AWD isn't lying-in-wait all the time, only when the SNOW setting is activated is it ever actuated.

Ahh... no. The AWD is always active - it automatically splits 25% to the front from a standing start and reverts to RWD traction permitting, up to 50/50 if it needs it, all without "snow mode". Snow mode locks it in 50/50 split, but only up to about 20 mph (reverts to full auto mode), and slows down the throttle response.

Funny, everytime I get a loaner G35X AT I bitch about how gutless it is above 4k all the way to redline. AT awd sedan vs MT coupe... you could launch as hard as you want, the coupe will reel you in, that feels like a floating brick after 80, 100 takes forever in comparisson

AT probably feels stronger from a normal launch because of the torque converter, it multiplies the engine's torque by some percent.
