Correct me if I am wrong but I believe hydraulic clutches work similar to hydraulic brakes. I know hydraulic brakes uses leverage and air vaccum to power the brakes. Brake pedals ussually have two switches on the pedal assembly one two activate the brake lights and a second for the cruise control. But the switches don't activate any part of the apply system of the brakes. I assume the switch on the clutch pedal assembly is used by the computer to identify wether the clutch is engaged or isn't as for cruise control or starting the vehicle.
