Clutch Slipping with 1,000 miles on the car
I have a 05 6mt Sedan. Just put 1,000 miles on it and decided to start seeing what it has. I tried launching at 3 different rpm ranges while slipping the clutch a little to maximize traction. 3,000 car bogged a little but was not too bad. 4,500+ broke the tires loose. 3,500-4,000 is where I started to have problems. The clutch pedal only came up 1/2 way then stopped. The clutch totally slipped and I bounced off of the rev limiter while I was sitting still. Every "aggressive" launch I try now results in some degree of the clutch slipping and the pedal stopping 1/2 way.
How is everyone else launching thier car?
How much is the stock set up supposed to handle?
How much for an aftermarket ~400rwhp clutch/pressure plate?
I don't know if I'm expecting too much, having a domestic background. Any advise on how you all are launching or any issues that may have come up would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

theres a few ways to check if the clutch is slipping, from a 40mph roll, slow down to about 20 in 4th or 5th gear, and then add gas to see if the revs jump. the revs should stay at about 1k and u should feel the engine lugging. if the revs go up, then the clutch is slipping.
i think another way is to dump the clutch at idle and see if the car does anthing, but thats kind of rough.
hope this helps

you should probably have your clutch checked out by the dealer....it should not be slipping at all....i have an 04 coupe 6mt and my clutch slipped one time launching from around 4000 in 2nd from a roll....really bad, smelled terrible, the car bounced off the limiter while in 2nd gear and the car wasnt moving and neither were my tires, foot was completely off the clutch pedal (obviously my clutch was slipping) anyway i have 10k miles on it now and the car has never done it since and i hate the wheel hop in 1st gear but i can drop the clutch from 7000 in 1st or 2nd from a roll or from a stand still and get 0 clutch slippage. if your car is stock you definatly dont need a heavier clutch...just get it checked its a defect and they will fix it. the car should be able to take what ever you dish out.
