What is Nissan thinking?

The new Sentra features intelligent key, bluetooth phone integration, tons of clever storage, CVT, leather seating, and more... for under $20k

What will Nissan offer in the Altima to justify its 5-10k price difference?
likewise, what will they offer in the G to justify its 15-20k price difference?

15-20k is a lot to spend for heated seats and nav, but of which can be retrofitted for 2k or so. the G sedan has more space, as it's bigger, but so is the (new) Altima. it sounds crazy to compare the G to the Altima and Sentra.. but I don't think the comparison is invalid..

I think the next G35 must have
-standard heated and cooled seats
-standard intelligent key (and not as a silly option for autos only)
-optional radar guided cruise control
-optional quarter panel and rear cameras
-standard bluetooth phone integration
-much better NVH

Otherwise their product placement just wouldnt make sense.

But I guess thats the logical side of me thinking. Reality is, people would pay anything for a better looking car.. and that's definitely what Nissan is offering.. I kinda feel like I'm getting robbed by buying anything more than a Sentra from Nissan

Judging by what little the Maxima offers in its segment, I am not optimistic.

G's also have an extensive use of aluminum throughout the vehicle. That accounts for a lot of price as well.

it does? considering the small size of the car and how much it weighs i'm shocked at that statement. maybe they should move to fibreglass for the body panels.

Have you seen pics of the new Sentra? It looks like crap! This is why they have to offer all these extras, no one will buy it otherwise.
This is coming from a former Sentra Spec V owner and Nissan Service Advisor.

The sentra could run 12's right off the showroom floor and I still wouldn't buy it. I think it looks like a Maxima that got squished, and not in a good way either!

I've done a LOT with older SE-R's (91-98 styles, not the new ones) and G20's and it seems like they keep getting worse and worse as the years go one. It's very sad.
The old 91-94 Sentra SE-R's were awesome cars... small, lightweight, good power, handling, and responds to mods EXTREMELY well... Then they added a rear beam suspension to the 95+ 200SX's and Sentras and I'm not a fan of that setup. Then the newer B15 chassis SE-R's came with the new 2.5L motor, a few other tweaks that I don't think helped matters, and stayed with the similar rear beam suspension...
