Thoughts about rebadging with 350gt

What's the draw? Is it "cool" to have a Skyline 350GT badge on your car or something? Why be wannabe JDM?

I like a lot of the JDM stuff and wish we were able to get that kind of gear here. Nissan Motors created the Infiniti line just for people like you, the elitest crowd. "My Acura/Infiniti/Lexus is better than your Honda/Nissan/Toyota". Those brands don't exist outside of North America but many of the same cars do under different names, including the Nissan Skyline 350GT.

There is almost no differnce between the Infiniti G35 and the Nissan Skyline 350GT. Maybe that's your answer. You're saying "Don't do it because it's not a Skyline." Well, isn't it? Why should we be so proud here in the U.S. of our elitist Infiniti brand? Are we the smart ones and all those other countries are the ones who've got it wrong? I don't think of my car as a rebadged G35 as much as your car is a rebadged Nissan Skyline 350GT. Just my opinion. I think we're obviously going to agree to disagree here. There are a lot of things that are cooler in the Japanese market, from mobile phones to consumer electronics to cars.
By the way, I saw a new Honda Accord coupe the other day at the paintball facility. It had a big chrome AMG emblem on it in addition to a 2" tall VTEC emblem. Thought that was funny.

Though I'm sure if the name for the similar model as our car overseas wasn't "Skyline" people wouldn't rebadge as much. And if it was a Nissan G35 overseas, I'm sure people wouldn't be running around to swap the Infiniti emblems for Nissan emblems.
But again, my opinion is that our car in US-spec trim is an Infiniti G35. So what if Infiniti is just a face for Nissan. If you're going to go with the wannabe-JDM looks, you at least need to do it completely and change out every badge. Having Nissan Skyline 350GT badges on the back and Infiniti on the front and interior is a bit ghetto.

Yeah, the interior logo pieces get to be REALLY EXPENSIVE to replace. The airbag inflator module is $800+. Clock, head unit, sill plates, engine cover, floor mats, and trunk mat aren't too pricey. The seats are a whole different story. Just too much $$$ to go through all that. Although, some people are that into it. More power to them.
I agree with you completely that people wouldn't rebadge as much if it weren't "SKYLINE". I think it's cool that our Gs have something in common with a GT-R, even if it is in name alone.
Funny that you mention the Skyline rear, G35 front thing. That's how I'm rolling at the moment. I know it's ghetto. I sold my Nissan front grille emblem to someone last weekend. I picked up my new Gialla grille yesterday and dropped it off at the shop today. By next Wednesday, it'll be minus the exterior Infiniti emblems again.

honestly....
i think it's personal preference. just like aftermarket parts. it's jsut the exterior, if you think its ricey, keep it to yourself, if you don't, don't go around calling other peoples cars stupid, lame etc. if they still have the infiniti/g35 emblems. So once again it's personally preference.
Also whats wrong with being jdm? I mean isn't that one way of modding a car? of being a tuner? hmmm thats something to think about... so it's lame/stupid to make a car into it's twin over seas in the us. If so, i think we should just stop importing cars over, and keep everything to american companies. If that happened, I think I would move to japan, and start a life there, because I love cars.

Give me an "R".....Give me an "I".....Give me a "C"......Give me an "E".....
What does it spell?!
RICE!
Plus, I think the name "Skyline" is stupid. It makes the car sound like a Buick!

I don't want people thinking my care is a NISSAN, even if it IS.

It's only cool if you convert to RHD!

Lexus already began this process. Acura is making the same transition.
