Gas on paint
Gas on paint
I was filling up gas last night and the auto turn off did not turn off the gas when it was full so it sprayed everywhere. My clothes, my car. Oh well I didn't care about the clothes, I tossed them in the washing machine. The paint however was laden with gasoline. I went in, bitched out the attendant rather nicely and asked for a glass of water. A few glasses later I rinsed off as much as I could, however I could still see a line where the gas had gone from. I cannot wash my car yet, it's 22* outside. What should I do?
That happened to me last month when I pumped gas on my wife's Trailblazer; about a gallon and a half spilled. I was so pissed and my conversation with the attendant was not comforting at all. He asked why I didn't man the pump. I got his employee ID and the gas station's corporate number. I washed it immediately and everything was fine.
I suggest you call the corporate office for possible reprimand. You call probably buff it out with a pc.

My $0.02
Your paint should be fine, with a decent polish and buff as long as it didn't sit too long. From the sound of it you were smart and washed what you could right away.
Taking it up with the guy behind the counter is rediculous
Its not his fault and he is just going to laugh at you while you blow your top. You should always man the pump, and always give it a sec to drain completely before removing the pump hose from the car. Sure the auto shut off should of worked but life is TOO SHORT to be taking it up with the hack behind the counter. You got to kick yourself in the *** on this one its your fault, and trust me we all have needed a swift kick now and then.
