G software.

Im just curious,

In the movie 'The Fast and The Furiouse', I seen a smart guy made some Supra software.
Assuming to make a similar software for our G, 3d desgin and programing skills are required. right?

any idea?

I dont know exactly what software you are refering to, but you can use ODBII to read various sensors from your car. The G35 (at least the later models) also support the CAN bus which is a higher speed bus. The G35 also supports the CONSULTII interface, which is what the dealers use when they connect to your car in the shop.

Being a programmer I really should write something specific to the G35... the only issue is I dont have the cables and equipment I need to do it yet. Ive see plenty of windows apps that show info and create charts, but most are pretty boring. I would eventually like to use OpenGL to create a more fun interface to data logging and monitoring.

I don't think we're talking ODBII diagnostics here. I think we're talking about rewriting the ECU. "Performance Chips" would be what the F and the F had in mind.

First explain what you want exactly. That is the only way we can help. If you can't describe what you want, then you don't need it.

Well, first of all that is most likely just graphics work, no actuall application.

You want to be able to pre-visualize a car and configure it with virtual parts or somthing fancy like that?

Do you want to be able to create motion? There some enginneering programs that allow you to create motion with basic laws of physics applied. We have proE at work but it's pretty basic. They are some real good programs but you could buy another car for the price of the software. Looks cool............... but way too $$$$$$$$

You could use a program like LightWave, Bryce, etc... A lot of times people post their models on the web and you can go from there.

positive...
but hey. Konsole
It will be hell of work or impossible to 3d modeling all the internal parts, such as an turbo kits, headers, engine parts etc.
I didn't think that far.
My idea is a virtual 3D softaware that can visualize G's exterior, such as bodykits, wheels, exhaust tip, and colors...

it's simply avatar theory, IMO

your talking about something like what tire rack has up, where you can visually change things, right... get an idea of what it will look like. Something like...

http://config.importtuner.com/

Import tuner site, but its basic. So much work would go into detailing and matching the myriad number of products available. This site only has a few options. I used the Z model to see what 20's and 19's would look like with different drops.

So much work b/c flash media.
IMO 3D studio will be easier way. isn't it?

^ again.. maybe im wrong.
Import tuner site is kinda simple, still alot of work tho.
I don't know well about graphic field. but I was a computer programer.
guess 3D job of course harder, but my friend said exterior with limitted body kits will be ok. He also prefers 3D Studio than Macromedia Flash.
3D Will Def look cool with better detail and 360 degree view.

Any CG Designer ??
