G for Me? Looking for advice
Hey all. Not a G owner, but I think I'd like to be. I'm in desperate need of a new(er) car, and I'm at a loss to find something that feels right for me. I've been looking this site over. Seems like the G35 is a sound vehicle and modding platform. But I wanted to run my thoughts by you folks so you could tell me if the G seems like a good fit for me, or if it's just a pipe dream in my case. I realize G35 forum members might be biased as to whether or not it's the car, but who better to talk to than people who own them?
Anyway, here's some of what I was looking for.
Price - A new G35 is well outside of my budget, but so is basically any brand new car. Except maybe a Kia. *spits* But I think if I can catch a break, I can find a (hopefully) nice used one. A couple of years does wonders for a pricetag.
Style & Quality - I don't see much sense in buying a car that'll "do for now," or else I'd get one of the myraid nondescript cheapo sedans the streets are littered with. Won't do me much good to get one that needs a lot of repair work either, or I'll be right back where I started. If I'm going to get one, I think I should get one that I like and enjoy, and will be happy with in the long run. From what I've read and seen so far, seems like a G would give me the performance I've got the bug for - especially with some time and work - and I'd be able to take my girlfriend out in something with some class.
Gas - Now if I was too worried about gas mileage, I wouldn't be thinking of performance. But I've seen plenty of forced induction performance cars that don't take $75 a tank like the POS I'm driving at the moment. This aspect also seems to give the G a leg up on other cars with larger engines, even if only by a couple MPG ultimately.
Size - I'm 6'5", and the counterpart 350Z - and pretty much every other import of similar class- just wasn't built with people of my gene pool in mind. But I refuse to drive nothing but pickup trucks and SUVs all my life. I don't know for sure, but the G seems like I could drive it without looking like a circus act.
MT - Aside from the obvious reasons, I want a car to drive, not just aim.
Performance & Modding - My friends and I don't hold a single conversation without this finding its way in somewhere. My best friend and I are constantly trying to school ourselves. Incidentally, he drives a Dodge SRT4. In the right hands these will embarrass more than a few people.
The G has similar components as the 350Z, so I know the performance is there from the get-go, as well as flexibility with modding. And I fully intend to add aftermarket pipes, suspension, forced induction, etc as I can afford to. A car that will grow with me as I learn is ideal. I'm also less concerned with being the fastest around (though I'd certainly love to give the STIs of the world something to think about someday) as I am with doing something original. So far, that sounds like the G, especially the sedan. However, though the general consensus seems to be that G coupes are played out, they haven't in my region, so my mind is far from made up on a sedan.
Am I on the right track? I'm wide open to any suggestions, even if that includes telling me I'm full of crap. Thanks a lot.

Style & Quality - HAS IT ALL, IMO ITS THE NICEST LOOKING CAR OF ITS KIND. FEELS LIKE LUXURY IN AND OUT AND LOOKS GREAT.
Gas - HORRIBLE BUT WORTH IT, WHEN I DRIVE ALL CITY I GET 12-15 MPG, WHEN WIFE DRIVES IT ITS STILL ONLY 14-16 MPG. ANYWHERE FROM $40-$50 PER TANK. BUT ITS NOT A 4 BANGER W/ 110HP, ITS A V6 W/ 280HP...YA KNOW.
Size - MY BROTHER IS 6'3" AND FITS GREAT, ONE OF THE ONLY CARS OF ITS KIND HE FITS IN, HE HAS A '03 G35 COUPE.
mt - ITS ALL PREFRENCE, GET WHAT U WANT/LIKE.
Performance & Modding - SEEMS LIKES A LOT OF MOD OPTIONS FOR THE G. MOST GUYS WHO ARE INTO Performance & Modding GO WITH THE COUPE THOUGH, LOOKS NICER AND MORE SPORTY.
GO FOR IT BRO, YOU'LL LOVE THE CAR.
Go out there and test drive some 03-04 sedans. I fell in love with the car after the first test drive.
Luckily I ended up finding a 03.5 blk/blk 18,000 miles fully loaded w/ nav and mananged to get it OTD for 22.9
