Z-tube vs Carbon Fiber Z-tube
Z-tube vs Carbon Fiber Z-tube
Whats the dif besides weight? Does it sound different. I would think CF would resonate different. Does anyone have any experience with this comparison? Hope I'm not reposting a topic.
No difference. It'll sound the same. It's just that the CF tube just looks damn nice!

Well, here's my theory on the whole air intake temp thing.
The CF is not as good of a heat conductor as like aluminum. So technically, it should be better at keeping the heat out, however with the volume and velocity of the intake air at full or even part throttle, it never has the time to significantly heat up and won't really make you lose hp.
However, if you put on an air intake like the pop charger or anything else that places the filter in the area where the stock air box was and don't completely isolate it from the engine bay, it will suck in hot air. I noticed this when I drove around for a bit and when I got home, I popped the hood open to check everything. I placed my hands around the filter to feel the air. It wasn't all that warm UNTIL the fan kicked on. Then it pushed all of the hot air around the filter and almost burnt my hands. It was HOT!!!
I was wondering why my car felt sluggish after driving around a bit with the pop charger and now I knew why. Even when you're driving at speed the air still goes over the radiator and floods the engine bay with hot air. That's why I think that the stock air box with a KN panel filter will yield the best power. The way it's designed, it'll always have access to the cool outside air and never the hot engine bay air.
So for now, I put my stock airbox on since it's summer. Maybe when I get the chance I'll see if I can make myself a custom airbox, seal it up tightly and maybe even create some sort of ram air setup. That would be nice.
