Just out of curiosity.

Ive been on this fourm for about a year now. And i read all the threads everytime i get a chance. After reading through alot of the modding ones i see that some of you get your mods installed and some of you do it yourself.
So i just wanted to ask you guys how many of you get down and dirty and do them by yourself or how many of you get it done at a performance shop ?
Thanks

Depends what mods you are doing... obviously the beginner to intermediate **** can be done by yourself depending on your tools that you own.. myself i have lots of tools... cause that's what my profession is going to be (working on BMW's if the damn dealership would call me back).. obviously the more complicated stuff should be done by a pro

I like to do every thing myself.I do it in my own small garage with no lift.It just feels better that I have done it myself ,my way,and on my time. One big plus is that it saves alot of money to do it youself,so there is more money to do more mods.I do also help out other people.I have been doing this for over 20 years.

I try to do them all myself, on all my cars. That includes normal work too. It gives a better feeling of accomplishment when you do it yourself. Not too mention shops are expensive and the mods cost enough by themselves.

I do all mods myself. The feeling of accomplishment is a huge factor. Nothing better then driving the car with your scrapped knuckles after everything is done. Also, I don't trust other to work on my car. (Personal problem )

It depends on the tools i have on hand.
The time i have available.
Some mods i would love to do myself but can't since i have 3 kids and everytime i work on my car they are in the backyard also.
Modding can be dangerous

This is what I do..............

It really depends on the mod.........do I want to lay
on my garage floor to swap out my new cat-back
system or paint and trial fit my new front end or
install my MotorDyne spacer.........see?

Up to this point, I have installed all of my mods. However, if I were to continue on with headers, those I would definitely have a shop install.

Note: My exhaust and sway bar installs were performed with the use of a lift. Without the use of the lift, I would have definitely had these installed at a shop.

Just like most people have said, I try to do as much as I can myself. What I can't do, I have a shop do.

I have done every single mod myself except for the wiring of my NAVI and my INGS+ Replica lip and sides which is currently getting installed. I ended up spending 5 hours re-mounting my NAVI because they did a crappy job of mounting it. As far as the lip and sideskirts, if I had a paintbooth or access to a body shop, I would've done that myself too.

It's mostly because I am **** and I am a perfectionist. And I will know that it was done right. I will know that nothing else was damaged or scratched or left loose, etc...
