Would you buy a G35 with 160k Miles?
My concern would be transmission maintenence... I would absolutely look for some history of a few flushes, filter changes, etc. I don't know anything about the G transmission - but 160K on any automatic transmission without regular maintenence is a sure way to spend some $$$.
The engine should be fine if the oil changes were done regularly. You might also take the VIN to your local dealership and see if they will give you a copy of the service records. Any work done at any Infiniti or Nissan dealer is on file... They may only release it to the owner though. In either case, you should get a copy.
I also agree with SilverII that the combination of the air bag light and paint work indicates possibly more than just kid damage...

That is a hell of a deal. I would make sure it wasn't wrecked before buying it though. Because AirBag light and repainted seems a bit fishy.

Don't trust carfax, there are ways of avoiding reporting.
Absolutely get an independant inspection, it's worth the money.
They'll be able to tell if it's been in an accident.
Also, better to find out now if it needs mega $$$$ worth of work or not.

THANKS!!!
THANKS!!!
thoroughly test drive it on street & highway if u like how it feels
take it 2 a mechanic u trust if he says its fine go for it $8500 is a steal
& like the other guy said 160k in 3yrs. Im 95% sure these are highway miles.
another 40k should be a breeze ....I can only think of a handful of Japanese made cars that wont make it to 200k on same motor.

Go for it, but I think you should take it a step further. See if you can find 3 160K mile sedans for ~8K, buy all three so that you spend about what you would for a 50K mile sedan, and then harvest parts as necessary from all three.
High mileage sedan............na
I wouldn't buy this car.......for a few $ more you
should be able to find one with 1/3 of this mileage.
With 160k you'll be spending that $ anyway and you
will still have a high mileage car......na forget it!

My experience with Japanese cars is that they tend to be more expensive to maintain after 100K miles comparing to their European and American counterparts. Let me make this very clear, it is only based on my personal experience and therefore it may not apply to other people. So, flamers can stop before you even start.
My suggestion is to stay away from this car. Not unless you are pretty mechanically competent to fix whatever broken and will break comes your way, now and in the future.
I will pass this motto on from our fellow Mercedes enthusiasts to you - the most expensive Mercedes you own is the cheapest you pay. In this case, an Infiniti.

The airbag light goes on if you turn on the ignition with the connector behind the glove box disconnected. It can be reset with a sequence of turning the key on for a few secs (don't start the car), then off - repeat 3 times. That should do it. I only found out this trick after I had mine reset by the dealer, so I can't confirm that it actually works.
