tire pressure light

has anyone had there tire pressure light turn on while driving over a series of pot holes and not turn off until the car has stopped for a couple of minutes? with the car being stopped, does not mean i turn off the engine, i just stop sitting at a gas station of parking lot. I have had this twice driving through New Jersey at approx 60 - 70 mph.
The light is suppose to mean that the tire needs air, but if that's the case, why turn off after sitting a few minutes (the tire cooled off???) If it is that it cooled off, what's the drive distance before engaging, i have driven a couple hundred miles straight without stopping at higher speeds without having it engage

Re: tire pressure light

just in case anyone didn't know, another user in the G35Frenzy.com forum pointed out the following
-- quote --
Had the same issue in my car. The service guys at the Infiniti dealership said that it's because the weather/temperature is changing. Says alot of cars are reporting this. Take it in and they will reset your tire pressure monitoring system. Haven't had a problem since they've done it to mine. It's free (under warranty). I had them do it when I got my oil changed. 7500 miles and counting.

Re: tire pressure light

this @#$@# thing it showing up way too frequently. every day, to/from work. I checked the tires when cold, 3 of them were at 36psi, 1 was at 34psi. If i remember correctly, the sticker on the door panel says 32psi all 4 tires (sedan).

will contact the dealer (Atlantic Infiniti) and posibly see if i can have it done on the 14th.

Re: tire pressure light

i have been somewhat monitoring the frequency of the light and it consistently illuminates 10 - 11 miles after i start driving. (I have not tried sitting still with the engine running, doubt i will).

Re: tire pressure light

ok, took car into dealership and had them check it out. On the work order it states, that the tire pressure transmitters not reading, re-initialized system.
I am off today, but will drive around a bit and verify that that resolved the problem.

Re: tire pressure light

happened again to me, thats twice in one week... seemed to happen after the car sits for awhile and with the temperatures going down 10 degrees... checked the pressure and one tire was less than 30psi after i got all 4 to 35, it did'nt go away but after a few minutes it was gone...

Re: tire pressure light

tsolin01, wish mine prob was that simple.

ok, that didn't do it. I took it back while the light was lit and they hooked the computer up and said it was receiving low voltage and spent approx 1hr running addtl test then changed the battery and sent me on my way.

well, low and behold, it came back again. this time much quicker than the previous 12miles. i called the dealership back, but by this time, the service rep had left and i had to leave a vmail. hopefully i can drop the car off tomorrow and let them run all the test they need.

Re: tire pressure light

ok, as it turns out, the dealership had to take the car for the day and work on it. The service rep said it took almost 4 hrs before they finally determined that the problem was a faulty tire monitor, which the replaced.

everything working perfectly again

Re: tire pressure light

Not sure why it turns off when you park your car. But actually, the tire pressure drops when it cools down, so if anything the light should come on when you park.
While driving, after the tire warms up, the pressure will actually rise....

Just something to throw in there....
