Crack inside headlight housing?!? How?!?

Well. I was looking at my car the other day, like I do almost everyday, admiring how nice it looks. While looking at it, my brother pointed out that my headlight has a crack inside of it. I thought he was referring to the outer lens, but the crack is on the inside. I don't know how it got there but I think the the fog light bulb is responsible for this crack. Anybody else have this happen? I was trying to hold it off for a while, but I guess it looks like it's time to upgrade to 06 projectors.

If you changed any of the bulbs to a higher rating, I'd suggest swapping back to the original ones and taking it back to the dealer. Hopefully it's still covered under warranty and they'll replace them with an 06'. HOPEFULLY!

Yup, same thing happened to me. After another member in the Florida G35 Club told me about how he had his headlights replaced under warranty for hair-line cracks in his housing, I had mine replaced the next day. I didn't even notice the cracks until he pointed them out. Too bad I didn't receive the '06s though...

What year is your car? I thought this was a problem on earlier models but revised with some sort of shield on the later years.

I have an '03 coupe. Just passed 60k miles, no more warranty. Looks like I'll be lookin' into some '06 projectors pretty soon.

hotsand, the difference is that yours is not a crack. It's a horizontal seam on the outer plastic. If you look at his pictures there is a vertical crack on the inside. It's much different than yours.

I seriously hope it didn't crack before you hit 60k or else I'd have to slap you upside the head.

this happens from the heat of the foglights. anyone who drives with both sets of lights on all the time will most likely have the problem. happened to caskyline as well.

I just had both of my headlights (03 Coupe) replaced under warranty due to this same thing.

Dealer says they've never seen it before, but I knew better.

I love my shiny new HL's.

Oh No! I ALWAYS drive with my foglights on b/c the stock lighting sucks, and I like the look of the foglights on too. I have 25k miles on my car.

Should I be worried about getting the crack soon? Will the crack effect my headlights vision?

Is there anything I can do to make sure the headlight doesn't crack besides turning off the foglights?

So do you guys ever drive with your foglights on besides in the fog?

Sorry about all these questions, but you guys got me really worried here. Lol. Thanks.
