Very impressed with Infiniti loan vehicle!

I took my G for a service and was given the G 35 Sedan as a loaner.I am extrermely surprised how powerful the sedan feels. It is Automatic and yet I feel it accelerates faster than my 04 6MT. Is it just my imagination or the sedan is really that powerful??? I had never driven an automatic G before and didn't even bother test driving one when making my decision since I have driven manual all my life. I now think I should have tried it and avoid the aggravation of driving stick in LA traffic.
My sister is looking into the Audi A4 or BMW 325 but I will tell her to consider the G 35 Sedan instead.

The sedans are lighter than the coupes though why this is so I will never understand. Also don't the '05/'06 sedans/coupes have more hp than the '04 models?

what you feel is the Torque from the automatic transmission... it's lower plenum on the intake is different and allows for more torque yet less HP... i, like you, enjoy the pull rather than having the ability to smoke my tires... you can install the lower plenum from the AT on your 6MT (Motordyne MREV+) along with 5/16" spacer and ISO Thermal mod to gain this TQ...or at least that's what they say... i put it on mine and the AT still pulls harder even though i have a polished AT lower plenum and spacer... my thoughts is that you'll never get the 6MT to pull as hard on you as the 5AT...without forced induction...or spending mad coin on new exhaust, headers, intake, CAI, etc...

you can read the whole MREV debate here

Another reason could be that the ECU for rental cars are used to the way their drivers have

I had a 04 sedan loaner for a day and it made me sick-high torque at low rpm, but the AT was so boring

What's the difference in weight? Isnt' it something like 50lbs or less? That's like saying you are really going to feel a difference in the way the car drives because your weekly groceries are in the trunk.

I went from a sedan to a coupe and I agree it feels heavier but that's just the way the coupe drives more than actual weight. It has fatter tires which gives it a heavier feel.

As a case in point when I took my sedan in for service one time they gave me a G35X. Now isn't the difference there hundreds of pounds? It didn't feel any heavier. It felt exactly the same to me.

Coupe doors are really wide and heavier than the sedans

I've had a couple '06 sedan loaners too, and they really do feel fast. Whether in normal AT mode, or in the sportshift mode. Gotta love the intellikey too.
