clutch

I have read from other sites that there is a clutch problem for the 04 6mt clutch. They said it wears out and needs a replacement really early. Is that true?

Unlikely

A clutch is one of the simplest concepts/mechanical parts known to man. The likely hood of them being flawled is really slim. The 6MT is simply a tough car to shift well in (takes time). People are hitting the streets and ripping the clutch to shreds, I would imagine they would be quick to blame the product before the user error. Sounds like that's the real problem here.

Shift smoothly,
Kyle

I have 2004 G35 Coupe 6-MT... After driving for 3 days..I had problems with going into 2nd gear, so three of my friends test drove and same thing happened...So i took the car to the dealer and they said i might need to replace the new transmission or need to get a new car... "I only have 200miles now.." I'll let you guys know what happened..

Re: clutch

turn off VDC when launching hard. Its that simple. The clutch should last 60,000 miles easy....

Re: clutch

I have a 1 week old '04 6mt coupe, with about 300 miles on it now. The only problem I've had with the transmission is twice, it's been uncooperative shifting into reverse. My old Miata had the same problem occasionally. It's easily fixed by shifting into first, moving forward a couple of inches, then put it in reverse. Sometimes merely shifting into first fixes the problem.. but it's only happened twice, so I'm not worried. I haven't had any other issues.

Re: clutch

Yes, can you elaborate more on the shifting to 2nd. The 6mt is defintily something else. I drove hondas and toyotas and the cluth is way different. They are so much easier. Anyhow, i read from other forums that some poeple has pre-mature clutch wear and had to be replaced.

The one concern i have is that when i shift from 1st-2nd i make is real jerky. In order for me not to make it jerky i have to shift reeeal slow. Does anyone else have this problem?
