Looking for advise for a rare situation
Looking for advise for a rare situation
A friend of mine is familiar with a owner of a dealership (not infiniti, but hyundai). He recommanded me to get my g35 coupe from him because I can save at least 1500 compared to other infiniti dealers. Basically, he would just trade cars with infiniti dealers and then sell me the car.
Since I'm relatively young and this is my second car only, I am not familiar with this kind of a deal. The owner gurantees me that I wont have any problems with warranty since I can just take it back to any infiniti dealers to do it. But are there any disadvantages or pitfalls really? Stuff like can I still get loaner car from any dealership? Or other things I might have overlooked? Thanks

depends, I've never heard of infiniti's policy, but with VW they will 1/2 your warranty if you buy what they consider 'gray market'

Re: Looking for advise for a rare situation
that is not a gray market car, its from the u.s. full warranty and also infiniti loaner is from the factory i think, its not dealer based...such as bmw etc, where the dealer has the decision.
i have a dealer license and have bought new cars, resold them to ppl and no warranty problems. the only thing is your title will say used since the hyundai dealer will be the first owner, no problem because your title will still show like 5 or 6 miles, whatever you get the car at so it shows ur basically the first owner.
just call ur dealer and ask, they will know since the origonal dealer who bought it will be in the computer system and they will have to update it to you being the first owner so just tell em u bought it used, they dont know when you got it.
but im not infiniti so i would call them, ive just neve had a problem when i have done this for ppl.

youre right, gray market is the wrong word..
as I recall, VW had a policy of only the first owner getting the full drivetrain warranty. So, if you bought it from hyundai, you'd be a second owner. Then again, VW isnt known for service : / and I dont think Infiniti does anything of the sort with warranties.
