how to 'silence' the coupe

Either way... a difference of 10 TQ is not going to make you push bakc in your seat or make the car feel noticeably quicker. If I remember correctly, the 03' and '04 sedans were lighter than the Coupes, which would probably make them feel quicker than the Coupe a lot more than the few ponies and pounds of torque in 'supposed' power output from the engine.
You've got to look at more than max torque output. What's more important is how much torque is available across the power band. A good example would be the 997S and the C6 vette. Both cars curb weights are similar and the max torque of the C6 is 400 lb/ft and the 997S is 295. Also the C6 has 400HP to the 997's 345. According to these specs the C6 should be much faster, yet the 997S and C6 have almost identical 1/4 mile times even when the C6 is equipped with the Z51 performance option which provides aggressive gearing.

I don't have that problem with my V8 Dakota with catback and Flowmasters

To the OP, I understand wanting a quieter car. My car has too much road noise, especially from the rear wheel wells when it's wet outside. But on the exaust note, I've been on a quest to make it as loud as possible. I'm going in the opposite direction from you. I'm 30, and this is the first car I've owned with any power or exhaust note at all. Kinda funny.
