Huge Problem with Stillen Air Intake.. READ NOW!!!
OK......Like I said in my previous post, I installed the Stilllen airbox. I drove on the highway today and it feels quicker and sounds better today for some reason. BUT.....and here is the big BUT..... I wanted to experiment with the intake so I went up to 90mph and put the car in neutral........THE RPMs WENT STRAIGHT DOWN AND THE CAR TURNED OFF!!! What the hell is going on? I thought only the Injen had this problem. When I go to 80mph and do this, the RPMs go really close to zero and then bounce up a little bit. I notice that the faster I am going while in neutral, the lower the RPMs and I think 90mph is the danger zone. My friend knows a lot about cars and he says that this is probably NOT because of the intake. He claims it's the mass airflow sensor. Tonight I will reinstall the stock airbox and go back on the highway and try this experiment again. If the car turns off......then I know it's the car and not the intake and off to the dealership I will go. Can anyone please try this......on a straightaway with no cars and see if this happens? I am thinking that there is a batch of G35's with bad parts in them and only certain people have them.....Like for example.......not everyone with the Injen has the problem.....and now me with the Stillen. This is really freaking me out and I'm constantly looking at my RPMs to see if they go to zero. Please, anyone, give me some insight on this problem.

I got my tube from a local nissan dealer. It cost me $100. It is worth it man. It makes a huge difference. The stillen by itself does not make a significant difference to justify its price. The Z tube is the easiest thing in the world to install. It takes 5 mins. at the most.

Mo18t....you are absolutely correct. Whats underneath the hood in a G35 and 350Z is exactly the same, except for the strut bar and 350Z-intake tube. The g35's intake tube has a resonator in there, makes it quieter and feeds a little tiny bit less air in. Like someone said, realistically its about a 15-20 minute install. Most people bought theirs from grubbs (their nissan one not the infiniti dealership) for $75
