For those of you that have aftermarket CAIs, are they extremely loud? I'm thinking about getting Injen RD CAI, but if its too loud than I don't want it. How about NISMO ones? Any got em? Thanks.

not sure since I dont have a CAI myself but I believe the sound doesnt change much unless you get the rpm's above 4k or so. So if the sound bothers you so much, try not to go above 4k...but at the same time...can u resist the temptation? =P

Yeah, the Injen is pretty loud above 4k. In fact, at about 5k the Injen actually rattles my driver-side front window. I need to figure out exactly where the rattle is happening so I can dampen it.

I have an Injen cai & it makes a whistling sound at about
3000 rpm, which I believe is from the air being sucked in when
the gas pedal is applied. About 4500 rpm to redline it gets
pretty loud. The noise doesn't bother me because I use to
own a couple of mustangs and they where much louder.
If you can put up with some noise, I think Injen has the right
idea about putting the air filter were they do.

I have a Nismo R-Tune Cold Air Intake. The sound at idle is almost like stock but you'll start to notice it at 3k+. The sound is really solid all the way up to red-line and not annoying like other after-market CAIs.

where did you get the nismo R-Tune, and if you don't mind how much.

I'm guessing he is using intake for the 350's. Do a search in Yahoo for Nismo R-Tune Cold Air Intake. You'll get alot of hits. They average for about $300.

The R-Tune CAI is for a 350Z and you can get it at your local Nissan dealer. Like Wreck said, price is around $300. You can see a picture of my Coupe's engine in this forum (G35 Coupe General) page 3 - Jax Fl Meet-Mad Coupe Pics.

Anyone got this Nismo CAI in NY? Can you pass state inspection with this CAI? or do you have to put the stock one back in before inspection?

I've always shifted to neutral at 60 MPH going down this one bridge and never had a problem -never tried it at 90 though. I'll try it this week-end and will let you know what happens.
