Best Motoring VCDs with G35c --- gotta get these!
I think some excerpts of these videos have been floating around the boards but the complete disc is awesome! The May and July 2003 editions of Best Motoring have excellent G35c (Skyline 350GT Coupe) coverage in them, and I found a site that sells the VCDs cheap (only $6.59 each plus flat $7 s/h):
http://www.ezymovie.com/Japanese_Mot...stMotoring.htm
They are excellent quality, come in standard DVD-size cases (clear) with full-color inserts and disc graphics. The video is very good, with only very minor artifacting during some scene transitions. Sound quality is fine but nothing special on the May edition, but the July edition has very full sound (but still only ProLogic). However, they are Japanese language with Chinese subtitles, so unless you can understand either of those, then you're mostly left to sit there and listen to the engine and exhaust noises and tire squeal. You can get a feel for their enthusiam by the way they talk about each car though. The VCDs are sent from Malaysia, and the guy who runs the business, Andrew Ho, kept me apprised of their progress with four emails along the way. They were sent the same day I ordered them, and I got them in 2 weeks flat. I'm very pleased with them.
I won't post too many specifics about the race results (don't want this to be a spoiler) but the May disc has a race between the G35c, 350Z, and an M3 SMG. It also has other features with E55 AMG, SC430, Maserati coupe, Aston Martin Vanquish and a vintage Toyota 2000GT. The July disc is mostly aimed at the RX-8, but the G35c is involved in all the shoot-outs, and the last race has a Miata, RX-8 Type S, RSX Type R, S2000, G35 Coupe, and WRX ... and by the end of the race you'll be w00t'ing and jumping up and down on your couch. BTW, the G35c in both is a Caribbean Blue 6MT.
P.S. I am in no way affiliated with this business, just a happy customer passing along a tip.

In a word, quality (resolution). VCD is about VHS quality. There is also SVCD format, which is better, but DVD is higher up.

These have excellent video quality for VCD. They're not SVCD, but I would not say they're VHS quality either. Very good resolution on them -- made me forget they weren't DVD.
I'm watching them on a 35" Sony Trinitron, so a digital TV might expose some resolution limitations ... but in any case, the DVDs are $25, so for 1/4 the price the quality is excellent.
