Just an FYI. The dealer is replacing the steering wheel and shift **** with the wear after 5,000 miles on it. The service manager said that it's a courtesy thing that infiniti will do and will do only once. Thanks for your help before on this.

Since you mentioned it a few days/week ago, I looked at mine and sure 'nuff there is some wear.. (3000 miles). That is totally bizarre.. Where your palm would rest when you adjust the stereo controls or the cruise control, its smooth. The bumpy texture is gone already.

Having scratched my wheel in the maxima and being told it was $500 to replace, I'm very careful with the steering wheel wrap. This doesnt bode well :/ althought its not actually worn out yet on my car.. just wear that really shouldnt be there already

Wow...mine has 10k but I've had wear on it since probably the 3k mark...it's been annoying me. I'll see if my dealer extends me the same courtesy.

 

I too thought that it was kinda quick for the wear. yea just tell them that it shouldn't be there after such a short time. And tell them that you talked to other guys with the same car and with more mileage and that it isn't happening to them. Also the service manager has to look at it b/c he's the only one that can make that type of decision. So schedule a visit when he will be there.

THanks for the advice...I'm gonna go in to talk to them today and I'll try that.

 

Not sure about if you can go to a different dealer or not. Try a closer one if you can. It can't hurt trying. Infiniti is Infiniti, Right? Kinda like GM or Ford.
