Bulb type for the fog and side stripe?
I'm wondering what are the bulb types for the fog and side stripes in the headlamp assembly. And what are the recommended matching bulbs? Thanks.

Fog: H4
Clearance Light (side stripes): 194 or 168
The most commonly used bulbs are Sylvania Silverstars and PIAA Xtreme Whites. Afr0puff has also had success with CATZ Aquas.
You can buy the Silverstars from you local Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts. The PIAAs can be bought from here. The CATZ bulbs can be bought from the above link.
You can find plenty of pics of the Silverstars and Xtreme Whites if you look around. Here are pics of afr0puff's CATZ bulbs.
As for the clearance lights, most people are having success with the PIAA 168 LED Bulbs or the PIAA 168 Xtreme White Bulbs . I think more people prefer the LED bulbs because the Xtreme whites aren't as bright and they are bluer. But don't quote me on that.
I personally have the Silverstars and the PIAA 168 LEDs and I am happy with both.

I decided to try SilverStars. They are closer than the PIAA Extreme Whites(i.e. less yellow), but they are not an exact match for the HIDs. You can match the SilverStars if you are using them as fogs exactly using PIAA Super White 168 bulbs for the clearance lights. They aren't blue like the Extreme's. ...I guess no one read the post I made about this a couple of days ago.

I did read that post. I just wanted mine to have a more distinct color so I went with the PIAA LEDs for the clearance.
Yes, this is an overly discussed topic. I too think it deserves to be added to the FAQ section.

hey i'm looking at the sylvania website at the silverstars and they say the H4 lights are for motorcycles? I thought G35 foglights use H4 ?? Am I missing something here?

Some Motorcycles do use H4s, but so do a lot of cars. Porsche 911's and 240SXs are 2 of them. The Sylvania SilverStar part is a 9003ST for the H4s available at auto part stores like Autozone for <$20 a bulb. Just remember if you go with these to get a set of PIAA Super White 168 bulbs to match or your clearance lights will look very yellow.

how about a (night) picture of the PIAA Super whites in the clearance....i'd really like to see the difference.

I thought the strip light on the side wasn't LED? how could both possible work for the strip light? both LED and non LED?
