i never drove stick b4, only time was in my friends 95 civic, but is the clutch harder to press on the g35? im afraid i might stall or make it hop because of the clutch, please tell me if i will be able to handle it?

This isn't exactly the car to learn stick shift on. The clutch is pretty darn stiff, there is a lot of power, and the accelerator and brake pedals are sensitive.
I drove stick shift for a year before I got this car. I am completely used to the stiff clutch now and I have no problem modulating it, even in traffic. I was scared to death that I wouldn't be able to handle the clutch at first, but once I got the car and started driving it and got used to it, it's all good.

I definitely agree with MrE about learning to drive stick on this car, it gives me migranes just thinking about how you will be brutalizing your new G...
but this is definitely one of the easier/easiest cars to drive, I think the electronice throttle helps alot. I don't find the clutch too stiff at all.
on the other hand, if you lack the strength to hold a clutch down, should you really be driving any car?

Nah ! The clutch is just right for me. I learned to drive on a stick and have driven them for years. Just took me a few tries to learn the action point.
My wife loves the car, but has never driven a stick and would like to learn on my baby (RED '03 G35C 6MT). Fat chance that will ever happen. But of course I never said that to her, so I am slowly running out of excues.
So I may have to find a nice way to tell her 'NO WAY IN HELL are you getting a chance to ground the gears into bits and pieces"

Agreed--
It's just a matter of fine tuning everything. I've driven some rental cars and push my foot down a several inches and wait for the car to move, then I get back in my G and push it down a few millimeters and go WHEEEEEEE!
My GF doesn't drive stick. So just before I turned in my 330Ci, I had her try drive it again. We made it up to 4th gear in the parking lot. Heh. Nevermind, it is so hard to find large parking lots without those islands around DC...

yeah definetly not the best car to learn it....its just got a little too much power under the hood for something to learn on. but it is a lot easier than ur standard sports coupe. my bros audi TT had a more stiffer clutch , and it would be hell for a beginner.
hey but it u put ur mind to it im pretty sure u can learn on a coupe just make sure u get ur coordination right!!!.
reminds me of those days when my dad was teaching me...hehe used to sometimes never really let go of the clutch for fear of stalling on 1st or 2nd...oops!!

I juss learned to drive stick on a 280zx before I got my G.. The clutch may feel stiff depending on the type of car you've driven before. I'd suggest learning stick on another car so you don't beat up ur baby wen you get it.

just pay extreme attention to what you're doing. Each time you stall, try to pinpoint exactly what caused u to stall. The G was my first car to drive stick shift on also but i got the hang of it in about 5 hours of driving. Man, you should have seen me...I was all sweating from concentration. Sucks being a perfectionist. the clutch is definately more difficult compared to normal cars. I drove my friend's mazdaspeed protege and the whole tranny seemed like those arcade games. I learned how to drive his car well in like 3 blocks worth of driving. haha. Good luck
