Requesting pics of your.

Hi, I'm requesting pics of your XM satellite radio antenna if you had it installed stock at the dealer. I need a pic of your antenna if its either a 2003 or 2004 model. Mods, please don't move my post since this really isnt a navi/electronics issue, its more of a warranty/general issue for the following reason:

Took my car to the dealer recently becuase the antenna tore off the roof when drying the car after a wash. It was attached with magnets that come off from the base of the antenna. There was nothing between the base of the antenna and the paint of the car, as I would suspect there should be (to prevent the metal magnets from scratching up the paint!).

Anyway, the dealer claims my antenna is not a factory installed antenna, even though it says XM radio is installed option on the window sticker that came with the car when it was new. Customer affairs is convinced the window sticker is not for my car, as she looked it up in her computer and she says she sees XM was not a factory option on my car. She even asked me why I have the window sticker, as if it were any of her business and as if it mattered anyway! Anyway, Customer affairs and the dealer both claim the antenna is aftermarket. Please post up pics of your antenna. Here's mine.

im pretty sure that's aftermarket, though its hard to tell, i think factory ones have a slight notch in the vinyl trim between the metal and the glass, where the wire goes into the car..... a little squared off notch for that thin strip of the antenna

good luck resolving that

Hey thanks for the replies.

avs007: what year was that G, 2003 or 2004?

I was followed home today by a black G35 with brembos (so i know its either 03 or 04) and it apparently lives in my apt complex. So i drove by it later and saw it had the same antenna as mine.

Plus, my window sticker says "XM Radio, $400" on it under the installed options next to the spoiler stuff and navi options. Would that not include the antenna?

I want to make sure I am armed with the correct info before I make the next decision of whether to remove it myself or to have Infiniti deal with it if it turns out to be stock. Thanks.

That G is actually an 05'. Did they change the XM for 05' or something? I thought they were all the same?

Your window sticker should have your VIN on it, so they should be able to match it that way. When they say it wasn't a factory option, do they mean they think your vin was built without XM, or they think it was not even available? Those guys sound like morons... If your antenna really is "aftermarket", then I would demand the dealer refund you the cost of the XM radio, as you paid for something you never got

Is this the dealer you bought the car from? Isn't it illegal for the window sticker to mis-state the contents of the car? (ie, vin says no XM but sticker says XM)

stillen, i think your satellite radio is not from the factory, but the dealership installed it as an option (like not having the aero package from the factory, but getting a spoiler installed prior to taking delivery).

i'm pretty sure this is the case because my dad has the same antenna for his 2004 fx35. the satellite radio was installed by the dealership after we picked out the car.

hope this helps

This is what the dealer was telling me about the antenna too. I bought the car used from a toyota dealer in alexandria, but the car was originally purchased from a dealer in va beach (3+ hrs south of here).

The reason I am so confused is because why would the XM radio be listed on the new car window sticker when it was installed at the dealer upon delivery. I thought all the options listed on the window sticker were factory installed, which is why they were listed on that sticker. Then, when you come to take delivery of the car, they install the other dealer stuff onto the car and clean up the car for you and put the new car window sticker into the glove box. Am I correct? Can anyone else with an 03-04 confirm this? thanks
