The Snow

How do the G35 coupes handle in the snow? I haven’t had mine for the winter yet and would like to have a heads up on what to expect.

Thanks

how much snow are you talking about? I had mine in the snow and it was terrible (summer performance tires). but with the right tires, its hould be ok.

Use the search Luke.

It handles like any other rear wheel drive car in the snow with the right tire and wheel package.

I think it handles better than most american rwd cars due to its good front to back weight ratio, but you DO need winter tires. I had winter tires on and had no problems, and actually I loved it and it was more fun than riding in the summer. As long as you are knowledgable about rwd, you are safe, and somewhat skilled you have nothing to worry about, just get winter tires.

Run a search, there are tons of discussions on this.

Basically, do not even pretend to think you can drive in the snow if you have the performance tires!!!! I can't stress this enough.

With a good pair of winter tires (I recommend a dedicated set of wheels as well), you should have no problem getting around.

You need snow tires!!! Slushy snow is def not as bad as fluffy new snow, but body shops like both! FYI, I had the Blizzak WS-50s last winter, don't know how I survived without them!!

Do not take chances with the summer tires in the winter. Hell it could be blue skies and sunshine, but if the temp is below 40 it could still affect the gripping of your tires.

I live in St. Louis, made it through last winter and the light snow fine with Avon M/S 550 all season tires in stock size on 18" wheels. The guys are right, handles like any other rear wheel drive in snow, have to be very careful, and VDC on. No big snows here yet in the past years, but I would not take it out in anything over a couple of inches unless an absolute emergency need. Bigger concern is moron's sliding into me...!

I think best winter tires out there are blizzaks, but any winter tires will do.

I am considering doing the same for my G. I live in NJ and have a 6MT Coupe that I use as a daily driver.

I am considering getting the Blizzak LM-25 from TireRack ($153 per)

I am also thinking about getting a set of 17 inch Privat Gassan Grey wheels ($143). The stock 19's that I have on the G now cannot stay on for the winter. I am afraid they will get wrecked. Plus, it is pretty hard to find winter tires to fit 19 inch rims. There are plenty of choices for 17 inch rims thogh.

Does anybody have any other suggestions for rims? I don't know anything about the Privats.

Also, will I have any trouble mounting them on the Coupe given that I have the 6MT?
