And yes, 6 gears will definitely net you better MPG than 5 gears...

I'm gonna live on residence next year so driving wont be a necessity but more of an issue of convenience and ofcourse fun as i love to drive. I'm gonna have the car for a while, like 4 years +, so what do you guys suggest i go with?

btw i have very little manual experience, i've driven manual for about 3 hours total lol

thanks in advance for any input!
Check out the Canadian section.
"888" has a 2 wk old MT that he wants to flip for auto.
Maybe you can land a sweet deal for both of you.

this car was my first manual. it took me about one week to get used to it. and in about one month i was heel toeing. youre gonna miss out on downshifting and leaving other cars in the dust if you get the auto. nothing beats cruising in 6th to save gas. also i hear that you have to change the automatics trans fluid alot sooner then the mt's.

Listen it just depends on what you want, do you want the car just because it looks nice or because you want to feel the power the car can give. If you get auto its just simply another g35 everyone else on the street gets just to have a nice car thats supposedly fast, the auto is nothing compared to the MT, the MT you feel every gear, you control the car, and if you like smoking the ishh outta other people you got a major launch advantage if you know how to use the car right. So its up to you do you want to just have a car to get here and there with a luxory sports look, or do you want one thats both luxory sports and is just simply plain hard.
+1 MT for me. its my first car, and im loving it i had trouble driving it the first couple days now im getting the hang of it and love it to death.

I had ZERO MT driving experience at all... and I still decided to go with a 6MT

Get the 6MT, or youll regret it.

I thought you were going to ask us whether you should sell the left or right nut to afford a G35 during school.

This is easily decided: are you going to be driving in high traffic conditions or not? Manual if not, auto if yes.

my 06 6MT was my first manual ever. Don't listen to people who "don't recommend it" as your first manual. Listen. Plain and simple. It sucks ***** for the first few days. You are going to be screaming/yelling obscenities and giving yourself whiplash. You will also be pissed at yourself for stalling the beautiful brand new G. BUT, in about 1 to 2 weeks you will be SO happy you got the MT...youre 18, im 21. i had a WRX in auto when i was 18. I was pissed at myself within the first month of owning it..it didn't help that i never heard the end of "why did you get this in auto..." people also seem to have some kind of respect for you driving stick too. I get it all the time at college now. and besides what others think..there is nothing more sweet and rewarding than dropping down that clutch and shoving the stick into gear...it really brings a smile to my face everytime.
Conclusion of rant: GET STICK..YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT

Listen to 06BLACKMT, hes absolutely right.

At first, youll really hate when you stall and your car jerks front and back. (Thats how I was 2 days ago, but have improved). But after you get over that ditch, youll be in G35 heaven

im in almost the exact same position you are.... except ill be a senior this year at college in the states..... but im about to get my G and im going to get the 6MT (partially thanks to the encouragement by other members on various threads).......

i asked my gf's dad how i should learn to drive stick before i get it.... he said "when you go to the dealer and order it or have it ordered from a diff. dealership, tell them you want to drive one of the manuals they have on the lot and they will DEFINITELY give you one for a night or two"

so im gonna do that, and just put that brand-spankin-newbie wear on THEIR clutch, and have a couple days experience by the time i get mine
