cayman is ugly. It is not overpriced, it is as fast as M-Z4, handles better than M-Z4, and put lsd on that car and it will be faster than a gt3 around turns.

Am I nuts? Is anyone else going through this?
Hang on to the G, start saving your money for the GT-R!

The new BMW Z4 coupe at $45k isn't a bad deal. The SLK 280 or 350 is a nice car for the money when compared to Porsche's offerings. Porsche makes very solid cars, but the cost of ownership is relatively high. I have to be careful with my words as I have never owned any of these cars - just speaking from what I have gleaned from research...

One thing is for sure - there's a car out there for each of us regardless of the badge on the hood or the sticker on the window. I cannot recall a time in my 46 years on this planet where we've had so much style and innovation in the products that are on the market today. I remember the day when concept cars NEVER made it anywhere near production!

Cars are just like women for men. You always want what you dont have. I am looking at the stereotypical Californai Escelade with the 22's. Not sure why, but always wanted one. I love my car though and have only had my 06 six months.

I agree. It's a never ending quest up the ladder for the "perfect car." I've owned three 911s and an M3 and although they were all great cars, they are very, very expensive. As to whether or not they are overpriced is up to the buyer, but Porsche is the most profitable car company in the world and BMW is number 2. Most car companies set the prices on their cars at a cost + basis. BMW and especially Porsche charge whatever they believe the market will bear.

In 2004 I almost bought the 40TH anniversary edition 911. The sticker on that car was around $93K and the Dealer had it discounted all the way down to $78K, and I bet both Porsche and the Dealer still had a lot of profit in that sale.

I took my friend to drop off his 330ci at a BMW dealership one time and this couple was looking at a new 330 or something with a sales rep. When I pulled up the wife of the couple immediately turned her back on the sales rep and walked over and was checking out my car. She was like... where is the Infiniti dealership? What year is this? Oooo I like that color leather and the wheels. Needless to say the BMW sales guy was fumming. HAahaa. "Oh yeah lady...its also like 10k cheaper". haha!

Here's the latest in my saga...

Hit 2 BMW dealerships over the past few days. Test drove two new BMW Z4 coupes - both in black. Really nice cars.

Both dealerships offered me $26,500 for my near mint 04 G with only 13.5k miles on it. They took a grand off the sticker ($44,145). That leaves me with a balance of $18,941.20 after tax, registration and conveyance fees.

Flame away at the insanity!

How are German cars NOT overpriced? M3? Yeah its a fast car and it handles well, but please, it is definitely not worth the fully loaded 54K+ price tag. Buy a fully loaded G for about 37, supercharge it (6K) and do your usual suspension mods (2K), and you will run circles around an M3. New 330i? Slow and ugly, yeah it handles great, but who cares? Its still ugly. 6 Series? LOL for 80K, thats a joke. X5? Ill take an FX45 over it ANYDAY. All MB's are boring, except for the CLS. Porsche? Yeah Porsches are the pinnacle of sports cars, but not for their pricetag. They are also not the best looking cars in the world either. I dont even wanna get started on the Cayenne, that was a disaster on its own. JDM for life!
