Is there a battery in each TPMS?

I did a search and found nice photos of them, but no mention of a battery inside.

If they aren't powered how do they work?

Thanks

PS: Hmmm, maybe they are filled with synthetic testosterone...like a bike rider that's been in the news........

Google RFID, they are radio transmitters that get their power from a broadcast sent from within your G.

A google Search produced this link: http://www.moderntiredealer.com/t_pr...t&storyID=1311

and this line from that link: "Most direct type pressure sensors are powered by a lithium battery with an expected lifespan of seven to 10 years. Many of them are designed to operate only during or after a 20 mph-plus driving experience. When the vehicle is parked, the sensors are usually designed to transmit pressure only once per hour or so, in order to preserve battery life."

My concern was that if these sensors are ON all the time, how long will they ultimately last. Now I we have the answer!

Thanks

hmm, couldn't they have made some sort of kinetic system? perhaps that's just making things too complicated, but i mean the tire is spinning afterall...
