Are you sure the 03's have racing clutches?

I usually shift at 3,000-4,000 RPM in 1st gear to avoid a rough shift from 1st to 2nd. I've noticed if you shift somewhere between 2,300-2,800 RPM it's harder to shift smoothly.
What I usually do is gas it in first gear up to ~3K RPM, fully let go of the gas pedal, and as soon as I let go of the throttle shift to second, feather the clutch to where the engagement point is, and then start giving it some throttle from there.
I have 24,000 miles on my 2005 coupe and I can honestly say that it took about 18,000-19,000 miles for me to finally be at one with the car (as far as smooth shifting goes from 1st - 2nd)

i skip shift alot, and it does absolutly no harm to the car. If im merging onto the highway and need to build speed fast ill keep it in 3, build my speed then shoot rite to 6th. Nothing wrong with that what so ever.
