Actually, thats exactly what he did. He took a Mazxa key fob and put the infiniti key parts into it. If you look at the part where the infiniti logo is, thats actually the logo from the actual stock key we would be sending in. The dark embed oval that it sits in is actually where the original Mazda emblem used to be. I dont think I'll be spending $300 to send it out... now that I know I can just do it myself. Now someone has to go out there and make a "Do It Yourself" thread on this

Mazda key fob picture:

Pictures of his key fob:

Notice how the Infiniti emblem doesnt fit

What frequency does it take to reprogram the G35 fob?

Its one of those “easier said that done” deals… but this is what would need to be done. Replace/reprogram the mazda key fob “brain” with the brain from the Infiniti key fob. Then take out the Mazda chip, and replace it with the Infiniti chip. The Mazda key fob would be blank (I’d assume), and just have it cut to match your stock key. Either that, or maybe theres a way to attatch the stock key to the Mazda key fob. I’m guessing it would be something along these lines.

alright..after doing some research.....
the key is for a mazda rx-8 or miata. models 05, 06. but u gotta get the right one cuz some of them dont have the trunk release button. they cost between $39 - $59. i don't how much extra to cut the key. and i don't know about rechipping it or programming it.

Ok.... guys.... relax.... First, he has no intension to do this as a business, secondly, he's not going to get yr car.... I know this guy for long... and again, he do tires only... just that he mod electronics on the side for fun...

Here's how we come up w/ the idea...
One day, we are just talking about how ugly our keys are... then again, as he said, nothing is impossible.... so he told me to choose a key that i like... so, I pick the MAZDA key.... (Yes, it's a Mazda key).... just that it looks better than the square looking one from VW/Audi.

Here's the thing that u are paying for... basically labour... 5 hours of labour...

You need, the blank key and remote from Mazda... $170CDN.
Then, a blank key from Infiniti.... $58CDN.
Antenna wire in silver, not copper(for some reason, it works better in range)
A bunch of hair thin wires.
4 Mono switchs for the keys. He use Motorola V3 vol keys switchs w/ custom padding for the height... (Cause Infiniti's is just a piece of carbon pad)

Now, you need to cut the key/blade... I'm not talking about cutting the teeth... I'm talking about reshape the end into a funny shape to fit it into the hub.
Then, replace the complete sealed chip in the Mazda key and replace it w/ the infiniti key(That's why he need yr key so that u don't have to do any programming)

And, here's the hardest part.... our remote's PCB is a double of length... and 0.5mm thicker than the Mazda one....
He cut the PCB in half, rewire all the switch and bits on the PCB, the IC's, and stuff, (all i see is a bunch of wires going around the board), using the Infiniti's fob's internal IC and stuff to get the same Digital Code and RF FqHz.
Sand down the board, the housing, and get it to fit it in...

AND yes, auto windows roll down works.

All that.... it's easy to say then do. If someone can get it for $30 and spend an hour, I'll like to see how he do it. This guy fix electronics on the side and of course he knows what's he's doing and still need 5 hrs.... I'll be surprice if u can do it in an hour.

Anyways, I just want to share to all of you that, Yes, it is possible to have a better key... In terms of price, I just feel like it's worth it in terms of the material you have to get and actually mod it...

If anyone come up with a better one, by all means, share it here....

well, not mine for sure, I just want to share w/ you guys or maybe you guys will come up a better idea... who knows....

but i'll ask my friend to make some more if he's willing to do so, I honestly don't know... he never though of doing this for money.... he just made me one for fun and to prove that it's possible to me... (Cause I challenged him that how is this possible to fit a bigger remote PCB in a smaller housing)

Anyways, I'll ask...

dayam man, why didn't u just say all this in the beginning. u made everyone go crazy. i spent all day at work trying to find the remote/key it matches. almost bought one to try too. the job is too technical for me. i can do minor things but cutting a pcb in half and reconnecting everything takes major time and soldering skills.

This is an old link but it shows the inside of our FOBs (I still think "fresh off the boat" when i see that, maybe b/c i'm asian) and discusses different methods of trying to fit the internals into the 05 sedan keyfob. Hope this helps.
