Last day with my G

After two and half years, my G and I are going separate ways as of tomorrow night. I am moving over to a black 2006 BMW Z4 coupe after months of agonzing decision making. I will miss the G and I wish all of you the best with your machines! I will check in from time to time.

Take care,

bcubed

Thanks for all of the kind words! I didn't have much aftermarket stuff on the car - I liked it so much as is.

As far as reaching for an M version of the car is concerned, I didn't want to put down the extra cash to get there. The 3.0si is enough car for me. I will definitely post some picks soon.

In the meantime, this will give you an idea. The only difference between my car and the one in the photo is that I have black seats and a six speed manual.

I've had the pleasure of driving both the Cayman S and the Z4 coupe. Both are great handling cars, and I prefer the Porsche over the BMW if price isn't considered. The big problem I have with both cars is how will they hold their value. A friend of mine paid sticker for his Cayman, and Porsche Dealers are already knocking $7K off the sticker. Almost without exception two seater cars depreciate rapidly because of the small market for two seaters.

If I were to buy either car I'd lease them or if you are going to keep the car for the long haul, depreciation won't matter that much.

I plan on holding on to the car for years. I'm not worried about depreciation. I have a four door sedan ('99 Jetta) for daily driving. This is more of a toy. I simply do not need all of the power and gas guzzling attributes of the M series. I'm in mid life and this is perhaps the last sports car I will ever buy. There's always better stuff out ther, but I feel fortunate to have this...

I'm jinxed... Two hours before I was scheduled to pick up the new Z4 coupe today, the sales guy called to inform me that some sort of solvent messed up the paint on my front bumper. The car was at a place that does clear bras and they figure they may have spilled something on the bumper.

Needless to say I was pretty ticked. I tols the sales that I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue with the purchase and I would get back to him.

Just for the heck of it, I snuck down to the dealership to see what the problem was first hand. I asked to see tha car and they told me that they already took it to the body shop. They also said that they needed to remove the entire front bumper to repaint it. That's when I lost it and said they could keep the car and give me a full refund.

This was not a good day... Am I overreacting?
