oil filter part #?

I been shopping around for an oil filter for the g35c.... I coudnt find all the good ones..purator..K&N, i tried but I had a hard time finding on..so I just got the best one i could get..

I got the fram double guard, suppose to be much better than the regular frams..plus I have used this fram double guard on my other cars and never had a single problem..cause I change my oil seriously at ever 3000 miles..castrol GTX, well I got one thats suppose to be for the g35c..can some confirm the part # on it?

the filter is real small....about 2-3 inches in diameter..and about 2-3 tall..

Re: oil filter part #?

I worked for a company who sold filters, and industry observers considered Fram to be the worst filster manufacturer of all. As someone told me, you'd be better off making a filter by putting toilet paper in a can to filter out dirt. Basicly they had a very cheap filter paper element, poor oil seals, and poor method of attaching the filter element to the top and bottom of the filter (which is extremely important, as if the filter element breaks away from the metal filter, unfiltered oil will pass by to the engine). In general about brands, I would trust K&N or Mobil before Fram or Purlator.

I'm sure the new fram is better, but personally, if I was changing oil in my $35,000 car, I'd cut in half any non-OEM filter to inspect the quality of the design (was thinking about doing this w/ the OEM and Mobil filter). Saving a couple bucks may not be worth the risk. The OEM filters are small and I'd like to put a bigger and better filter in, but I am just skeptical of any filter that factory engineers have not blessed. I'll wait for more research, or for other people to test in their car.

I have heard good things about the K&N working like our OEM but better....
High oil output, and better filter

The stock filter is crap! If you take a look inside it, its made really cheap!

Go with the K&N. I use the HP1006. The HP1008 is the correct filter as specified by K&N. The HP1006 is about 3/4" longer, and has a slightly larger OD, But it works fine. Before I bought this filter, I talked to a K&N Tech, who indicated the pressure specs were the same on both filters, and that it will work fine in my application. It has. Yes, the "Z" filter is the same as the "G".
