FEELER - Selling G and getting a Cayman S

Hey everyone,

I wanted to get some opinions on this. I was looking to sell my G. My lease is up and I can either turn it in, or buy it. I was looking at the Porsche Cayman S. I'm a little older now and interested less on getting "the fastest car" and want more of an overall exotic statement. Now, my question is, how much can I actually sell my G for? I was hoping to get like 24-28K for it. Let me tell you about it.

It's a 2003, fully loaded Black/Tan 6MT (without navagation).
The car has 32,000 miles on it.

It has a few small scratches on it, barely any swirls, and one small dent on the fender. It has been driven only on nice days, probably have seen the rain 10 times and never been in the snow. The transmission has been replaced at 10K for the same stock one by Infiniti.

I have a few options.
Brembo slotted rotors 6K on them.
EBC Greenstuff brake pads, 20K on them (still have about 60% life left).
Tein H-Tech springs 6K on them.
Stille Sway bars 6K on them.

Custom black engine cover (taken off a g35X sedan)
Custom black headlight houseing. (The light got melted in the oven so I repaierd it, works great.

The white bulbs in the headligts were replaced yellow. It also has custom cold steal floormats.

The Interior is in mint condition except for small wearing on the drivers side (not alot). No stains on the carpet.

I also have the OEM 19" wheels and Brigestone Potezza tires which have no curb rash and about 500 miles on them.

How much you guys think I can get? And I need to make a decision 9/1.

It's a beautiful car. It always gets crowded around at the dealer because you just cant tell what's different, it's just a very nice G. Its been in my garage under a car cover. Yes I'm ****.

The only body damage was the front and rear bumber were repainted because of scratches and it was rubbed by an SUV in nyc so the drivers side door was repainted. No body parts were replaced or neede major repair. Just repainting.

Kelley's blue book says
Excellent $26,145
Good $24,775
Fair $22,825

I'm not sure what condition my car would fall under, either excellent or good, maybe somewhere in between. Definatly not fair.

Any takers, please input would be great.

I was in the same boat as you about 5 months ago. I was close to getting the Cayman S but the dealership was stealing my car in the trade. I ended up not getting it so I waited I wanted to see if I can sell my car in private before getting it. Well last July the wife and I went up to a Mecedes dealer and ended up with a 06 CLS500. Although she like the Cayman S she fell in love with the CLS so that was that. I had no say or anything about it. The only thing about this whole scenario is that I'm still selling my G. I can enjoy my G until a new owner is found for her. I say go for the Cayman S the G is nice but it's time to move on. Life is to short so enjoy while you can.

That's what I'm looking at when my car is all paid up in a few years (although I will most likely pay off the remaining loan in a couple of years, since I have 4 years to go). Man, I love the look of the Cayman and the Cayman S (minor difference in the two). In two years, the price for the Cayman should be really good

My buyout is 17K. I can trade the car in for 22. Or sell it.

Also I dont think the price of the cayman is going to drop at all. Porsche dosen't really change their prices but they are always working out deals.

That's not 100% acurate...
Well, in NJ is it.. Those Jack Daniels people are pretty snooty and don't need to budge on their price, because someone will buy the car..
Not sure if that's where you're shopping or not..
Down here, (TN) they offerred to sell me an 06 Boxster with the power seat/mem seats, bose, xenon, and a few other little options here and there for $44,000.. that was about $4,000 off of MSRP.
You just need to come down to TN to buy your car.. :P

Why a Cayman? No one likes them at all and everyone's making fun of how you have to pay an extra 20k for the thing and all you are getting is a boxter hardtop. If you're looking to spend that much money just spend an extra 10k over the cayman and get a 911.

build a FFR Cobra - for the price of the Cayman you could build something that can run low 10s and smoke the **** out of almost anything on the road

edit: for what it's worth, if my dad hadn't given me his 911, there's no way I'd pay the $$$ for it - i know lots would go 'OMG!@! You wouldn't buy a 911!!@!', but I guess I'm tired of mediumly-high priced cars that are okay to drive, btu don't put down any true power.
