Both problems are alike but unrelated...........

All I've heard for the last two years is what problems
Nissan has with their trannys.....it's not unlike the
issues they have with their fuc*in brakes. I feel our
cars are made very well but it's like several things
slipped by Nissan.....why?

drive the car, dont let it drive you, jam the shifter in fast and hard many times, it will shut up eventually. But it is a common problem, ask dealer for a new one.

tech at the dealer told me that noise in the flywheel disengaging why you shut it off, amongst other things. He basically said its the loudest transmission hes ever worked with and that you can hear everything that is going on below.

I've had the same problem...tranny was really smooth when i first got the car, but it started feeling rough and at about 20000kms i couldn't even get the car into 1st or 2nd gear...

So i brought the car into the dealership and they replaced the tranny

Now i've had the new one for 4-5months and its making whirring noises that the first one didn't make...it kinda sounds like a bearing is broken or something...
brought it back to 2 dealerships and they both considered the noise 'normal' but it is quite loud
one of the service advisors told me they get ALOT of complaints about the loud tranny noises but can't do anything about it because its considered 'normal'

The clanking noises always happen, no matter if its a fast shift at high speed, slow shift at low speed... etc.

The awful grind which I can hear and feel usually happens when I shift at over 3k RPM.

i love the tranny EXCEPT for shifting from 1 to 2 and from 2 to 1. That downshift is pretty rough too.

Something weird happened to me today. I was driving normal on local streets and all of a sudden my foot slips off the clutch right after shifting. I go to the next stop sign and my clutch feels light as ever and my shifts got better. I just hit 5,700 today... did it take me this long to break the car in???
