I head a head tech at infiniti drive mine to make sure, he said everything felt normal to him.

Definitely not the smoothest tranny in the world. Smoothest trannies can probably be found here:

Like I previously posted, on the 1-2 shift, feather the clutch more than usual and see what your results are... I remember my 1-2 shift was pretty clanky, but after learning the car...Its cake to me, and the 1-2 shift is just like every other gear shift. The only time the tranny doesnt like to cooperate too much, is when its cold, and thats within the first 5 minutes of morning start up...It also helps if you take VDC off, trust me.

But now, I have found a problem that really is concerning.

Everytime I shift from 1st to 2nd, I hear this AWFUL loud grind. Almost right after, I hear this extremely load CLANK when shifting from 1st to 2nd.

The clanking noises always happen, no matter if its a fast shift at high speed, slow shift at low speed... etc.

The awful grind which I can hear and feel usually happens when I shift at over 3k RPM.

What should I do?

Im thinking of bringing it down to the dealer, hopefully I get my tranny (or any other clutch related problem) fixed or replaced
There's a pedal to the far left.. You should press that next time you shift.. it should make that noise clear up..

I know how to shift genious, i floor the clutch everytime obviously.

Just to make sure it wasnt me, I let two other experienced stick shift drivers drive it and it does the same thing.

Get used to it. I have the same problem. I've owned my G for 8 months now and I still get upset about it almost everday. lol,

Anyway, i am starting to deal w/ the jerk while shifting sometimes but the rattling noise when turning a corner still makes me embarrassed so what I do is step on the gas hard so I hear the exhuast...

saaaaaaame deal guys. LOUD shifts, esp 1-2. not grind..but CLUNK CLUNK. been featherin it slightly at engagment point, only way to do it somewhat smoothly for me. i also took it to the dealer, tech guy came out and listened and went for a drive, said all was fine, the trannys just suck. My idle is loud as HELL when the clutch is not engaged. its so damn loud and takes away from the sexy exhaust :/ gaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Is this problem only on the newer MT's? I have an 03 MT with 50K+ miles and I have never experienced this problem. Infact I would say my tranny has gotten better with age, or it's just that I am just better at driving it now. Not sure which.

I said almost flawless, you should have that check if it jerks violently. The next step from jerky shift will be slipping and that would be more expensive to repair. Mine has been problem free from day one no matter how hard I drive it. It survive Laguna Seca with no problem.

I actually like the G tranny, even tho its a lil tough to drive in the beginning, I actually like this sh*t. Although gear shifts and clutch is loud as hell, I love it. One thing I dont like...is when you shut off the car, theres a hideous rattle that follows it...only way to fix that is to push the clutch in b4 u shut it off, and its became a habit to me. I love my car, even though its in the body shop cuz some cockwad rear-ended me....hopefully it drives the same. Ok im done ramblin'

alot of cars you will hear a small clank when shifting gears it is pretty normal, as far as the other sounds this tranny makes, they are def not normal such as the rattle and the grind that i seen someone else talk about. The rattle i get, the grind i got once and that was because of my error.

Yes, what's the deal with that annoying rattle when you shut off the car? Nice car and all but it's almost embarrassing to turn it off. Sounds like a piece of junk. And I too have the same problem with 1st to 2nd, again so embarrassing!

Stop f*cking complaining about it and just do what you need to do to solve that noise. Push the clutch in, and then shut it off. End of story, plain and simple. Jesus lord....
