I head a head tech at infiniti drive mine to make sure, he said everything felt normal to him.
Definitely not the smoothest tranny in the world. Smoothest trannies can probably be found here:

At first, I noticed the transmission wasnt the quitest and smoothest out there.
But now, I have found a problem that really is concerning.
Everytime I shift from 1st to 2nd, I hear this AWFUL loud grind. Almost right after, I hear this extremely load CLANK when shifting from 1st to 2nd.
The clanking noises always happen, no matter if its a fast shift at high speed, slow shift at low speed... etc.
The awful grind which I can hear and feel usually happens when I shift at over 3k RPM.
What should I do?
Im thinking of bringing it down to the dealer, hopefully I get my tranny (or any other clutch related problem) fixed or replaced

I know how to shift genious, i floor the clutch everytime obviously.
Just to make sure it wasnt me, I let two other experienced stick shift drivers drive it and it does the same thing.
Get used to it. I have the same problem. I've owned my G for 8 months now and I still get upset about it almost everday. lol,
Anyway, i am starting to deal w/ the jerk while shifting sometimes but the rattling noise when turning a corner still makes me embarrassed so what I do is step on the gas hard so I hear the exhuast...

saaaaaaame deal guys. LOUD shifts, esp 1-2. not grind..but CLUNK CLUNK. been featherin it slightly at engagment point, only way to do it somewhat smoothly for me. i also took it to the dealer, tech guy came out and listened and went for a drive, said all was fine, the trannys just suck. My idle is loud as HELL when the clutch is not engaged. its so damn loud and takes away from the sexy exhaust :/ gaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Is this problem only on the newer MT's? I have an 03 MT with 50K+ miles and I have never experienced this problem. Infact I would say my tranny has gotten better with age, or it's just that I am just better at driving it now. Not sure which.

I actually like the G tranny, even tho its a lil tough to drive in the beginning, I actually like this sh*t. Although gear shifts and clutch is loud as hell, I love it. One thing I dont like...is when you shut off the car, theres a hideous rattle that follows it...only way to fix that is to push the clutch in b4 u shut it off, and its became a habit to me. I love my car, even though its in the body shop cuz some cockwad rear-ended me....hopefully it drives the same. Ok im done ramblin'
alot of cars you will hear a small clank when shifting gears it is pretty normal, as far as the other sounds this tranny makes, they are def not normal such as the rattle and the grind that i seen someone else talk about. The rattle i get, the grind i got once and that was because of my error.
