Finally, A desert G run!

Been a while since I've posted, but finally ran the "G" from Orange County to Tucson, AZ and back. Had the 6mt since last Feb but finally made the big run. This vehicle on a long trip is phenomenal. Normal drive time (at posted highway speeds) would have been 8 hours. Did it in 51/2 hours subtracting fuel, goodie stops and US Border Patrol stops. Interstate 8 out of San Diego is a blast, traffic once past El Cajon is practically non-existant. I saw no Law Enforcement. Ran an average speed of 88 and short run-ups at 100. My around town gas milage had historically been 16mpg to 18mpg...but, even at these desert highway speeds I calculated 23 mpg.....wow, I'm impressed. Also I just checked my around town mpg since this run and its in high 19mpgs. Guess the computer learned a new lesson. My current milage on the clock is 5400 miles.

So for all members concerned with our low gas milage...keep the faith. By the way maximum posted speed in AZ on route 8 is 75mph.

I wondered where you were. I hadn't seen you post for a while.
That's excellent mileage for that kind of speed, congrats.
Yeah, 100 in this car is like 50 in most others. Handles brilliantly. Wish we had a good cruising road like that around here.

Did a trip to NY last week and got about 24 mpg with an average speed of about 85. Also hit 130mph on a section of 95. The car is like glue and very stable!!!
