Dude, you have a lease. Don't worry about it. Nothing will happen, I have a friend who puts nothing but 87 octane in his G35c and he's never had any pinging or problems with it.
Yup, you'll get better milelage with 91 octane, but you'll get better fuel economy with 87. The extra mileage you get from going 91 isn't worth the extra cash. HOWEVER, long term owners should be using premium fuel because it is better for the engine. But you're leasing it - who the hell cares what the internals of the engine look like in 12 or 24 months? And how would they "Catch" you with 87 octane in the tank if you're worrying about voiding the lease?

So you can save what; a dollar or two a tank, go ahead and be cheap, let the engine complain and ping, loose power, hell, it's leased anyway so when It's all screwed up you can just trade it in and do it to the next one. LOL

No, use Premiun man!

OKAY...
1st. my Q is that why do ppo buy expensive cars and is cheap on 20 cents a gallon... its only a difference of 4 dollars... and thats if your tank is on E?

2nd. its a performance engine that requires premium gas to perform at its best... so you bought this car with performance in mind as one of the the reasons i assume, so why would you not put premium gas?

WTF?

WTF?

If you can't afford gas on the G, trade it in for a 4-banger.

I laugh my **** off every time I see a post like this. All the talks about can't wait till the GT-R comes out. Can't afford to buy gas, what makes you think you can afford a $70K car?

Must be another kid wanting to get away cheap.

The friggn' cost of the car has nothing to do with the gas you use. The octane rating required by the engine has everything to do with it.

Maybe I am reading this wrong but it seems like he leased the car not intending on keeping it. So the cost of the car is really not the point. I bought mine and I will only use 91 but if he doesn't care and he intends on turning the car in at the end of his lease then I say do what u want.

Sorry to side with the OP guys, but I too have wondered about this question (and I suppose I too am a cheap ***)...

But I have a lease as well and when I haven't gotten my paycheck yet, I resort to 89, but not yet 87...

The OP must be a working student too!!!

Hey guys aside from this topic, has anyone noticed their gas consumption higher than usual when you use different brands of gas? Like me for example i mostly use Citgo 93 premium gas since its just $2.99 give or take a few cents at times, rather than using Shell thats $3.29-$3.41 ( big diff ) when i use Citgo i seem to have more MPG than when i use shell Vpower...I just filled up for the Hurricane and with driving very easy and slowly and at 46 miles into the tank i am almost at half a tank...either this gas gauge is broken (again) or its just what my theory is...
