Automatic windows and window tint

I was wondering since our windows raise and lower a little when we open and close the door,if it would mess up the tint when it is just put on. The reason I am asking this is because I heard you have to keep your windows up until it drys....

-thanks-

When I had my windows done my tinter removed the door panels and tinted the glass all the way down so the tint won't peel when the window lowers and raises.

the automatic window can be disabled by the tinter by turning the screws on the side of the door. So it won't go up and down when you open or close your door. Turn the screws again after the tint dries up to enable the function again.

Whoa, don't do that... your windows do it for a reason.. if your window is all the way up when you close the door it barely clears and you risk breaking your window.

Don't worry about the tint... if you are getting it done somewhere other then the dealer, which means they might not know about it.. then tell them so that they will tint the windows a little further down...

The small movement will not hurt the tint...

That small movement of window when you open/close the door won't cause any damage to the tint film.
My tinter told me to not to open the windows for about 4 days untill it's completely dry. Did the best I could on that. Still had zero problems.
BTW, hot days and/or leaving your G in the sun as much as possible will help the film dry sooner.

Has anybody else had to do this?

Yes, my tinter did the same.
Only good tinters do that, for it's the correct way to tint all vehicle windows that go up and down.

Tints barely get affected by anything plus they always warranty it with a lifetime warranty if it gets messed up. I rolled my windows down after 4 hours like they said and it was perfectly fine. It truly doesn't affect it dont worry one bit.

My tinter did the same - removed door panels - and installed the tint. That's also to avoid burning the panel with the heatgun. Had mine done last weekend, no problem with the windows' slight up/down movement. Just don't roll the windows down for the next few days to let tints dry.

Tinters usually use a heat gun to dry the tint near the top, or so I heard from a tint guy I talked to. They do it just enough to dry the top inch or so. Our cars aren't the only ones that have the windows move up and down slightly when you open or close the door, so I'm sure this isn't something new to them.

i think that they removed my door latches off from my car and inserted it back into the door with it opened this way it made the window go up. Then he let the car sit outside in the sun for a few hours before he removed it before he would let me drive it again. he just said to take it easy on gettin in and out so the tint would not be harmed.. Great tint job. He actually tinted in front of the rear brake light so now its hard to see.. but it looks good.
