Re: A/C Stinks!!!
I can answer this mad easy. It's dust and mildew built up in your filter. Just take it to your dealership and tell them that the A/C gives you smelly air and they will know exactly what to do...they just replace your air filter and you're good to go. Usually, it takes a few years until you need a new one, but if you live in CA or AZ where it's hot year-round and you're running A/C 24/7, the air filter will last for a very short time. You can extend the life of your air filter by turning A/C off about a block or two before you get to your destination every time you drive (if you care).

This is a problem in ALL cars when people use the AC alot. The AC generates moisture which stays in the vents. And dark + moist = mold/mildew.
To prevent the mildew from forming, you should turn your A/C off and select the FRESH air setting a few minutes before you arrive at your destination. This way, it allows the fresh air to dry up the vents.
I've been doing this in every car I've ever owned and have never had a smelly A/C. Whereas some of my friends and family ignore my suggestions, and their cars stink!

What Mase said was right on the dot. But I would like to add one thing. If it stinks really bad and you haven't been turning off your AC and making it fresh air for a while now and it just stinks.
Just turn your fan onto max, select fresh air, turn off the AC, and change the temp to as high/hot as it gets. This will actually blow out the moisture and kill the mildew. This is just a more drastic step than what Mase mentioned.
And what Mase said was right, this is true with all cars. Just turn off the AC before you show and turn up the fan so that it blows all the moisture out of the AC system. If that's done, then the moisture won't lead to mildew. It's as simple as that.

Re: A/C Stinks!!!
Mine started doing this just a couple weeks after I got the car, before it even had 500 miles on it!? How can this be? One of the dealer mechanics told me it wouldn't have anything to do with the filter (you guys are talking about the filter for the A/C, right?) and there's nothing that can be done about it (?). I'm getting conflicting information here. What should I do? If it IS the filter, where is it and how do I change it? Thanks.
